Finally there is proof that they made the blue color available as well, 谢谢朋友

Now that we have this out the way, any word on the AMG S-Class models?

M

Yes, saw the few dissenting posts, but hardly the resounding rejection of the gross tasteless by all and sundry, I expected after seeing pictures.

Post truth era... up is down, down is up... everywhere you look. Sigh.

Maybe you should move to the land down under? That should correct the alignment. :p

Will there be a Pullman EWB limousine?
Second time in a week that I'm going to use the same word but this definitely is a bit gaudy. Lots of flash, glitz and glam.
I prefer the previous model's classier demeanor. I'll never be in the market to be able to buy something at this level, but my choice would be so automatically obvious, it's spooky...
I would assume you would stick with your Forester .....a more noble choice too. ;) In certain circles a Subaru Forester or Discovery 4 would make a suggestion of pedigree - moreso than a Rolls-Royce Ghost or this Maybach. Particularly in their most ostentatious options and paint schemes, these vehicles can make 'all the wrong impressions'. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. It's no surprise these vehicles are most successful in markets with a lot of new wealth - these are things you buy to make a statement.

Digitally on Mercedes me media and physically at the Auto Guangzhou in China: World Premiere of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class on two stages

The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class celebrated its world premiere not on one, but on two stages yesterday: on the international digital platform Mercedes me media and in front of a live audience in its largest market in China. On the eve of the Auto Guangzhou 2020 trade fair, around 350 media representatives and other guests witnessed the debut of the new model generation, which represents automotive luxury now more than ever thanks to numerous comfort innovations. In order to continue the success story of Mercedes-Maybach, which began in 2015, and to take advantage of the growth potential in the high-end luxury market, Mercedes-Benz is simultaneously expanding its product portfolio with the SUV variant Mercedes-Maybach GLS (combined fuel consumption: 12.0 l/100 km; combined CO2emissions: 275 g/km; Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC), which celebrates its market launch in Guangzhou.

“Mercedes-Maybach stands for ‘sophisticated luxury’, the pinnacle of automotive excellence at Mercedes-Benz. Since the market launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Saloon in February 2015, nearly 60,000 units have been delivered worldwide. We are honored, that in no other market it has been more successful than in China, with more than two thirds of all Mercedes-Maybach S-Class models sold here,” says Hubertus Troska, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Greater China. “The all-new Mercedes‑Maybach S-Class redefines the peak of modern automotive engineering, again. With the Mercedes‑Maybach GLS SUV, we are offering a new dimension of the Maybach brand and product offering to our customers in the top-end of the SUV market here in China. With our new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class and GLS, we aspire to continue to delight the most demanding customers in China and around the world.”

The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class redefines the highest levels of luxury. The extended wheelbase, with an additional 18 centimetres compared to the long Mercedes-Benz S-Class, fully benefits the rear passengers. Thanks to the standard Executive Seats and Chauffeur Package, the rear is transformed into a comfortable workplace or relaxing retreat. Exclusive details such as the optional two-tone paint with a dividing line and large wooden trim elements at the back of the front seats and between the two rear passengers are also Maybach hallmarks. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will go on sale in various markets already this year. The digital world premiere of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class can be viewed as video on demand at https://media.mercedes-benz.com/maybach

;)
I would go with the red exterior and white interior.
F*** it, if we are showing up, then proper!

Yeah, it looks great. But you may not get all positive reactions with it .......it does have a certain 'F* You' attitude.
I think it will look particularly good in darker colours - the two-tone is a bit too much for me.

I don't get the hate around this car...

This car has one destination , and ONLY one : ASIA/China

Simple as that. And they made it for them. Ultra opulent , ultra bling bling.

And I understand Daimler. What would you do if you were Daimler?

I quote : "Daimler, which also owns Mercedes-Benz, sold a record 12,000 luxury Maybachs last year.
They are used widely as limousines in China, the car's most popular market. "

This numbers are huge . And by next years , China will dominate the luxury market worldwide.

As a business , China is a win.

For the rest of us , let's get along with the S63/S73....Maybach is not for Europe/US , IMO...

That video plays against, it seems that they only painted it
The blue with gray is also beautiful, I do not understand how they do not seek a solution to the rear hanging tablets, that format is still the same as basically all cars have for ten years or more.
With all the goldsmith work on those seats in the back, it was time for an integration more like RR or similar, but no

Remember the new S-Class features an integrated airbag built into the rear of the front seats. You are not going to find that feature in a Rolls or Bentley.
Placing a screen on top of the airbag is probably not possible at this point. With the rear passengers so far away in the Maybach model, it might feature some of the largest airbags ever introduced in a vehicle.

The engines for the S-Class Maybach

S 450 / S 480 4matic with 367 HP + 21 HP ISG (M256); Whether the variant starts in Europe has not yet been finally decided (S480 is the name for China)

S 580 4matic plug-in hybrid (367 +150 PS) (only for selected markets, market launch not right at the beginning)

S 580 4matic with 503 PS and 20 PS ISG (V8 M177)

S 680 4matic with 612 PS (without 48 volt ISG)
Strange that the S680 produces less power than before 612PS vs 630PS. I wonder if these are only estimated or true figures.

Old Maybach vs New - I think thje new version has better designed rear doors and C-pillars.

The new one definitely looks like it was planned as part of the range from the start.

M
Very likely to be the case because the gap between the launch of the Maybach and standard s class is only a few months.

I like the styling of the Maybach, it looks good in the red and also two-tone colours such as black/white and blue/silver and black/silver but there are a few things I think could have been done better by Mercedes to make it look a little more special than just a pimped up S-class.

1) The choice of leathers and wood in the interior is virtually the same as the standard S-class. Well from the press cars shown it has the same shiny black piano wood with gold pinstripes as well as the same brown porous wood with gold pinstripes. For a vastly more expensive car as the flagship, Mercedes could have used so much nicer looking browns/blues or even red leathers and even alcantara in different colours would have made it look more special. Also use different coloured and patterned woods would have been nice
2) The standard black shiny piano plastic steering wheel is a major disappointment, They could have used wood or metallic inserts instead of the ugly black shiny plastic to make this look more unique and expensive than the S-class. Just adding a Maybach badge is not acceptable in my books
3) The shiny black piano centre console front and rear. Another thing straight out of the standard S-class and another glaring detail Mercedes has missed out on. They could have used again matching wood to the rest of the interior or have lovely rose gold coloured trim instead.
4) Front and rear light graphics - They could have added in some signature Maybach touches here such as maybe different colour light and rear OLEDs with some Maybach badges
5) Use of non-leather expensive cloth and fabrics - Mercedes should follow Volvo and use some nice bio-degradable fabrics for seats and door panels instead of using only animal skin. Bring in some velours like from the 70s and different patterned cloths.

Examples of past Mercedes models they can get some ideas from for wood and leather/fabric colours

You're right. The Maybach model is primarily intended to be chauffeur driven. There is still a market for personal chauffeured cars in Western cities but I think it is true to say that most buyers of luxury cars in the West prefer to drive themselves. However, in Asia (particularly China) a chauffeured vehicle is a great status symbol.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
