I agree with you, these differences would be very welcome, but it’s quite a weird situation because the car changes depending on what you compare it with. If we compare it to the w223 then it’s more luxurious, gives a better experience on the backseat for sure, but as you said more would be welcome. On the other hand if we compare it to other luxury sedans like the A8 and the 7er then the w223 is already ahead of them, and you can get the Maybach for the price of the future AMG, with the same v12, so then it’s something very outstanding. Also it’s different when we compare it to the Flying Spur or the new Ghost, where I believe it is mostly a question of preference as oppose to which is better since all three options are special and great in their own way.![]()
The body design turned out great. There is a since of coherence about it, even in extra long wheelbase form.
I like it better than the W222 version. The interior is not special enough to separate it from the S-Class range IMO. Some extra steps should have been taken to differentiate it.
List of items I would have done differently.
1. Unique, more upscale Maybach steering wheel.
2. Unique HVAC supply vents with a vertical grid design like the grill.
3. wood grain designer center console.
4. Replace (or make optional) the Mercedes emblem with the Maybach on the hood, steering wheel and boot. The MB emblem is tacky with the Maybach together IMO.
