MERCEDES-BENZ CELEBRATES 50 MILLION VEHICLE PRODUCTIONS

Anniversary and premiere at Mercedes-Benz: With the first new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class from Factory 56, the 50 millionth Mercedes-Benz car in the global production network rolled off the assembly line.

In the past 75 years, a total of 50 million Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles have been manufactured. The foundation for this is the global production network with car factories all over the world - flexible, digital, efficient and sustainable. Thanks to the MO360 digital ecosystem, all plants around the world are networked. Close, digitally-supported collaboration between employees in the various plants is essential here.

The global production network is optimally positioned thanks to the maximum flexibility in structures and processes. The ability to breathe and, if necessary, to move production capacity between factories based on market demand, is a key advantage. Vehicles with different drive types are already rolling off the same line today. The production methods and processes are continuously developed and digitized. This enables synergies to be created within the production network, costs to be reduced and, ultimately, efficiency and productivity to be increased.

The global production network is currently focusing on the implementation of the Mercedes-EQ electric offensive. A total of six new fully electric models will be integrated into ongoing series production by 2022. As a result, Mercedes-Benz's global production network makes a significant contribution to the group's ambitious sustainability goals. The batteries for the Mercedes-EQ electric vehicles are supplied by a global battery production network with factories on three continents.

Start of production of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

The 50 millionth vehicle is the first new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to roll off the assembly line at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen. The luxury sedan will
be manufactured in Factory 56 together with the S-Class sedan and the long version as well as the EQS in the future. High-tech production at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen opened in September 2020. It is the most modern automobile production from Mercedes-Benz.

Agreed. I previously disliked the Maybach trim but thr W223 and new GLS have done it justice.

This S480 seems like it’s for Chinese market. But I can’t understand why is not covered well like G-wagons while transporting.

It looks fantastic and impressive.... if you don’t mess up with the colour choice.

Looks like a high class Italian kitchen in that (and in many) video(s)... (the front i mean):D

I really like the last color combo now.

M

Absolutely. Dual tone paint match well in 223 over 222. The shoulder line is good to do the separation for the paints, and paint quality & colour combinations are brilliant in this new one.

I got to see a real life image of new Maybach in the same colour as below, at the back yard of Dubai showroom. It look so amazing in real life lighting.

The Maybach trim definitely looks good and this generation there is a distinction between this and the regular model. They almost look like separate models to me. There is a black and white trim, both inside and out, that is out of this world.

As for the v12, I do not see the relevance anymore except for bragging rights. We no longer live in an era where you need a V12 for power or smoothness. But owners have got to welcome the fact that the old 65 engine is finally available with 4matic.

This one look so perfect in two tone colour & wheels.

Yes, since there are few things that separate them from the S class, since they are basically the same car, the differential is the details, the chrome on the pillars, the grill and the wheels, if you take that away (like the wheels in this case ), you transform the Maybach into its normal brother

That would have been hot. We just have to face the truth, Mercedes is still scared shitless over the failure of the 57/62 to truly do a bespoke Maybach again. Something like that would been a winner and a SUV to match. You can still use the S-Class and GLS platforms, but with different bodies like they do everything else that shares a platform. Won't happen with an ICE, maybe there is a chance with an EV Maybach for the next generation since everything will be skateboard based.

M
It’s a dumb move. High net worth is at its all time high and people aren’t afraid to spend $$$. They can easily have a 3 model bespoke lineup like the rolls and make it better.. a while lot better. The57/62 were masterpieces in terms of ultimate luxury for the passenger that even the new phantom cannot match. Giving us the crap Maybach GLS is an easy cop out and creates a horrible legacy for the Maybach name :/

Those numbers can’t be right. Only a handful oh RR models sold. 3 Ghosts??? 10 regular Phantoms? This is for the entire year?? Where is the Flying Spur? Do the Chinese not like Rolls Royce? I fully expect the new Maybach to easily outsell the old one. The new one is even more Chinese market focused.

3 from the new Ghost, maybe these are also delivered numbers, not orders like Tesla does it. If you combine the Ghosts that’s 61, and it’s from the long wheelbase. But no question the Maybach outsells everyone in China, by far, even if the number are not that accurate.

These numbers would mean that China is not such an important market for RR. Only 195 sedans. It is interesting to see also how many coupes, cabrios and SUVs they have sold there. But nevertheless I was expecting a much bigger number since maybe 80% of all Maybachs are sold there.

Probably very little cabrios as those just don't sell well in China no matter the manufacturer. I find these numbers to be shocking given RR has done a lot to cater to the Chinese market.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
