Philipp Deppe from MB Passion took lots of pictures and rides and drives the S 680.

Conclusion: No other Mercedes model offers more space and a luxurious ambience

The Maybach variant of the new S-Class still comes with a 12-cylinder engine and a firework of innovations and conveniences. Whether more space, equipment or engines - the Maybach again offers more and in the latest generation has added more to the features well-known of its predecessor and thus clearly distinguishes itself from the normal S-Class. The drive from A to B is a relief, no matter what position you are in.

If you want to be less noticeable, the chrome grille insert on the front bumper in the S 680 4MATIC can also be omitted. This is often necessary for European tastes - but the unmistakable Maybach model doesn't detract from it.

What we noticed: ...

• o The new chrome strip in the middle of the bonnet
• + Clearly the quietest interior of all Mercedes-Benz vehicles
• + more space in the rear thanks to the longer wheelbase
• o Visually unfamiliar look of the rear axle when maneuvering or turning due to the rear axle steering
• + very well-made two-tone paintwork in several variants causes a stir
• - unfortunately our wallet is much too small

I really wish they would add the V12 to make a GLS 680.
