G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.
It looks bit different in the official color palette.

^ Interesting info, WAND and W201. Autobild also mentioned more options are available. :)

If the four available paintworks (black, blue, white and gray) as well as the three roof colors (black, brown and beige) are not enough for one's copy of the 99 vehicles, one may drop in on the in-house individualization department. "There are hardly any limits", says Dr. Gunnar Güthenke, Mercedes G chief engineer.

I think that will be much work for individualization department here, and limits for car like this should not exist.
At least in terms of color and roof color.
Sure it's not big problem to paint car in color whcih customer wants, and also for roof and interior color.
This thing is expensive, so they must fulfill any customer wish which i mentioned above.
I would ask just for same roof color like the rest of car ( for Mystic Blue ), that's all. :)

Great with the roof down, pretty damned ugly with the roof up.

Yeah so what. The BMW 2 series sedan sucks. You should be thankful for MB otherwise BMW would never have existed.

... I hope you recognise the utter stupidity of my post sounds like what you do a lot of the times.

I absolutely adore the G range, and I like this crazy thing too, but the roof looks pretty bad.

I want a G650 Maybach 4x4!!!!!

Excuse the quick an dirty photoshop but, perhaps a less contrasting colour?

Thanks Matski. :wthumb2: I think that roof in real, in same color like exterior, would be great.
Car would look much more calmer, without contrast roof color, for this exterior color.
Thanks again, I think it looks much better than with beige roof. :wave4:

With same roof color like exterior, car looks much more like conventional G class, rather than disrupted form G class when roof is in contrast color.

A regular G63 or G65 would look great in this configuration, without the raised height and wheels of the x2 model.

This car is so
I don't agree with what MB is doing with the Maybach sub brand. This looks like the last min parts bin special before the release of the comprehensively upgraded G class

Agreed.

I have no problem with the existence of this model. Mercedes can and people want it. How rational is any G Class purchase at the end of the day. What I do have a problem with is how the Maybach brand is being used.

Now, if only a tiger or lion would jump in for dinner :D.

Meh, West Coast Customs would have done this for less.

Hopefully it won't come to the US.

With a production run of 99 units, it's not like you were going to see a lot of them around even if it did come to the U.S.

The luxury segment has increasingly become a Twilight Zone of excess and brand-exploitation.

Nine years after the GFC and the billionaire party bus rolls on. Trillions of dollars have been pumped into the Global economy by Central Banks - which has vastly increased the fortunes of some, while driving up demand for luxury products to levels never seen before in history.

The problem is, the fundamental causes of the financial crisis have not been fixed - we are sleepwalking to a major correction. The decadence displayed by this G class could very well become emblematic of the times we are currently living through - such a boldly arrogant display of vanity, wealth, and hubris .....but above all, pointlessness.

Being South African comes with certain privileges: I spend a lot of time in the bush - mostly KNP. In fact, I was just there in January.
So (I'll get to my point, eventually) I've spent an inordinate amount of time in various game viewing vehicles, mainly converted old Land Rovers and Cruisers...
One has to laugh at this thing - in some ways I can't think of a more comfy way of viewing game - but in reality this mad (and somehow endearing) vehicle is an exercise in needlessness.

It's nice that they chose SA for the Safari photoshoot - I'm not exactly certain of the location but it looks like the Waterberg in Limpopo province to me - but unfortunately, no matter how exclusive a game reserve you might find yourself in, you will look like a right royal tosser in your Landaulet. Seated, you won't be able to see a thing and standing up, well, that's just bad form in the bush because you break the silhouette of the vehicle - a no no in terms of bush etiquette.

So yeah, gotta love it but, ultimately, as SDNR so eloquently put it: a symbol of what's wrong with the world.

Sorry for the slight offtopic, but there's an etiguette for being in the bush? Never heard of such a thing before.

And about the car, well, pretty much what the haters have said. I just can't see the G as anything else than a car for the military.

Of course there is!

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
