I have to totally disagree about Mercedes going backwards in the interior department. The C class is like what, 50-60K less expensive than the new S and CL? I would certainly hope that the C would not be as nice as the S or CL. If I owned one of those cars I would be pissed that the lowly C class has as much leather and wood and the same switch gear. Know what I mean? Let's remember this is an entry level car for Merc, at least in the USA.

First of all, thanks for the pics Vivaki, it's always exciting to see such an important car come to life when I'm not expecting it.

I think the reason that people don't like the interior is because the black part of the dash is so overwhelming (I think someone already mentioned that). I can't believe that material comes all the way down to the AC controls. It's just way too much. I'm sure quality is top notch, but what would you rather see, that or wood/alu?

Steering wheels looks really weak to me. Yes it might be similiar to the Audi, but it just looks way too skinny to me. It just doesn't say sport, but at the same time, it doesn't say luxury either.

I personally prefer the AMG bumper, but I think the grill would look so much better without that big star. If the horizontal lines were still as thick, but just didn't have the star, I would like the exterior much more.

Last but not least, I can't believe where they placed the window controls!!! This is what BMW did (more or less) with the E60 and people hated it. The fact that it is at that angle, you have to bend your arms in an awkward way. SHould have just left it laying flat.

Waiting to see more :t-cheers: :t-cheers:

It might be entry here, but at the same time it really isn't. Only 6 cylinders are offered (correct?) and that is more or less top end in Europe. Plus it's not exactly a cheap car either.

Even the current C class has more trim

I am quite sure it will be a lot lot better when we all see it in the 'metal' let's give it some time.:)

Re: First Official 2007 C Class W204 Pics, Cont'd Thread 5.

The center stack of the new C class actually reminds me of the X3.

Yes MB does have a tendency to get inspired by BMW :D , but this IMO looks like something from an "american" car.

I agree here, I think that's it. :usa7uh:

Overnight, I've warmed up to the interior design after studying it for a while. To me, MB used interior styling cues from the A-Class. The materials seem to be pretty good, especially with recent MB interiors getting better. It has to be said though that darker plastics tend to look "cheaper" than say khaki (or lighter) colored plastics. I don't know why Mercedes insists on using darker plastics, especially when they don't look as good as lighter colored variants. I personally despise them. Even in our Avantgarde E320, the dark interior doesn't look as "high quality" as W211 interiors in lighter colors. The same way they also insisted on using black plastic buttons - which didn't look as HQ as the silver plastic buttons used by Lexus for example - despite them being literally of the same quality grade. Thankfully, the SLK, S, CL and now the new C-Class show MB using silver colored plastic buttons - which look visually more high quality than black.

Also, in real life, the car and interior will look much better. Remember when the CLS debuted? Everyone claimed the wood on the interior looked fake and plasticky and ultimately cheap: wasn't the case at all. ;)

Let's get real here for second. Because the center console of the C-Class has a few design cues which look similar to a car from _____ doesn't mean anything.

Look, the design inspiration for the W204 interior probably came from these two MB models: A and SLK-Class.

Still, they got an american interior from 2 or is it 3, euro cars.

what is the fuss with the interior,it looks pretty good to me.Even the A4 has similar amounts of wood.the wood in this c-class is similar to the arangement in the ML and The GL.
also the steering will look ok,the photo of the brochure is taken at an acute angle.

About the interior, I got to say that I just love it. I think it’s much sportier than the w203. In relation to the possible inspirations, it also reminds me a little bit of the old BMW e46… (maybe it’s just because of the big black central space, and the wood around the switch gear…)

But, nevertheless, I think that the final product is just beautiful.

It's not so much the amount of wood that's there, it's more the amount of plastic that is bothersome. It just takes up too much of the dash.

Re: First Official 2007 C Class W204 Pics, Cont'd Thread 5.

all i am saying is that the design is pretty good and with a beige/piano black combo would look good.maybe that is optional in elegance and avantagrade packages.

also when the screen pops out it will break the dullness of the black top.the poor quality of the photo makes the black look even worse.all that matters is how one feels when they are in there and not how it looks in a photo.

also about the screen i feel it will have 3 modes, cover fully closed, cover open without screen fully poping out(i:e the angle will be adjustable) and screen poped out.
