SLK/SLC [Official] Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class

The Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class is a compact executive roadster, produced by Mercedes-Benz. It was released in 1996 and was built at the Mercedes plant in Bremen, Germany, until the end of production in 2020. The former name "SLK" was derived from sportlich (sporty), leicht (lightweight), and kurz (short). With the release of the facelift R172 in 2016, the SLK-Class was renamed to SLC-Class in accordance with the revised nomenclature adopted by Mercedes. Under this scheme, roadsters use the base name "SL", followed by the model's placement in Mercedes-Benz hierarchy, the letter "C", being the roadster equivalent to the C-Class.
There are some quality posts here to agree with, too many for me to quote. I agree with some of you guys about the design not being a total success.

The main design problem are the "hips" in the rear quarter panels. I have to ask myself how that flows with a somewhat "boxy" very masculine theme to begin with.

Masculine is the word here! (even without the AMG sport kit)
This version is a far cry from the previous SLK which I thought was very feminine looking.

The dash should have been unique. (This car sits below the SL and SLS)
I don`t know if I like whats going on here lately with interior sharing among the German brands.

Looks much nicer in the real life photos. Looks like this will be another MB that looks nicer IRL. The rear looks much nicer; the tailamps don't look as huge as in the press photos.

Indeed, real life pics make the car much more attractive than press photos. Is this a trend with newer german cars? :)

I seen one in Munich earlier this evening.
visually it is a mess you have angles and straight lines at the front with a more rounded rear. It's like the board picked the front of one idea and the rear off another.

The SLK could have been far more interesting if they made a smaller SLS type shape instead they come up with the Kim Kardashian of the automobile world - a total lack of visual impression with a big ass.

Depends...the A7 is as ugly as it is in pics. Horrible irl. This SLK however....real life pics do make a huge difference.

I completely agree with you.
But Kim is way better looking than this s**t

Like all new Mercs, they have surface sculpting and detailing that is so sharp and precise, you have to experience it in person to really get the full impact.

On the other hand, like all new Mercs, cohesion and matching is in question. I will say, I don't know why, or how, but to me that rear end is decidedly Mercedes-Benz.
