Official: Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept

^the head lights were F10 inspired..
i mean i have been silent and let the BMW fans have their fun and pointing fingers in here..
But PLEASE .. for the love of god.. get a ******* grip...

A. I feel that the overall instrument panel styling is a credible progression of the original CLS' dashboard.

B. I have the impression that, like anything "fashionable" in the world of design these days, we're going to see elements of similarity in the style and shape of interior detailing and surfacing. Take the transmission tunnel and hangdown console integration for instance - it's very Audi-esque in the way that it sweeps up and meets the console. The horizontally partitioned dashboard is very much in vogue at the moment so it's easy to see why the theme appears in so many of the German marques of late. This is not a case of MB copying anyone else - it's simply the design trend at the moment.

C. Nevertheless, objectively, recognition should go to BMW for being the first to distinctly and emphatically (early BMW versions of this theme we highly criticised, so different were they) adopt this trend in the E65 and E60.

Its funny when people comment 'A copied B' but perhaps its because they dont understand how long a car takes to design. The interior design of the CLS was signed off BEFORE the new 7 series, 5 series GT and 5 series were revealed

true, but some of you are acting like those were the first cars with that interior. Don't forget, BMW is on it's SECOND generation now, we're talking previous 7 series, previous 5 series ...

Also, comparing this to the 5GT, I have 2 remarks:

- different segment, really now
- 2 I remember all those guys ( fan of a certain MB brand ) going arround, why would I pay money for this when I have the touring, why these 2 cars side by side, why less bootspace ... Sorry dudes, same goes for this car, you can't make it change just because the logo changed. There's a E estate aswell. And in dimensions, the E and CLS have always been very very close.

But I hate those threads where people directly use a car to diss another. One could say, why do the BMW buys come here, or one could say, why does a nice car like this deserve a thread where the discussion level is at "this looks sooooo much better than the 5GT" standards. It's the same comment, so before you start blaming, look in the mirror.

I'd like to focus on this lovely car from now on. I adore the interior now, don't like the brown though, black with brushed metal much more nice. Also, this could be the first MB lately where I kinda like the rear lights. I'm really looking forward to the cls sedan. However, and I've alway had this reserve with this car, If I were planning on getting an E-class, why the hell would I? especially with the boxxy fella it turned out to be this generation.

All those comments about the interior being a copy of BMW are really boring. In my eyes, the only MB that really draw its inspiration from a BMW model is the W221.

All others are only going a sometimes slightly similar, but always independant direction. Heck, what do you want to do with those mega-screen, you only have a few locations possible and from it derives the overall dash architecture.

As far as the "uselessness" of that car is concerned... Contrary to the 5GT, this does effectively brings smthg to the line-up: a really sexy wagon.

It adds sexyness and design delicacy to the E-Wagon, pretty much in the same sense as the X6 brings sexyness over the X5.

I still do not know if those sidelines were all necessary, but they do look good and overall this is a gorgeous car. Interior's fantastic too.

If this is the new design direction for MB, then I applaude with both hands, even if I do like the W212 a lot.

I think that the production interior will look better given that that the panel surrounding the radio buttons will be piano black, and thus make the dash broad look more T-shaped which I what I love about the outgoing model. The S-Class inspired look that we see in the concept is a bit boring to be honest. Simply isn't provocative or sexy enough for the CLS.

This is sex!

I hope, that the interior will be close to the production CLS like these were:

Vision CLS:

production CLS:

ConceptFascination:

production E-Coupé:

---

and Centurion, you could be right. The new CLS interior could be not as sexy as the interior of the current one, but if it will look like the Concept, it is much more sexy then the standard E!!

Yes, but not before the E70 X5, E65 7er and E60 5er :usa7uh:

Either way, it's not even funny how much better this new interior looks compared to the puke-worthy E-class coupé interior
And if this is going to be the new CLS interior, it's miles ahead of the old CLS too. No comparison at all, and by far the best interior design I've seen in a Benz sedan in many, many years.

So wrong! What exactly does it bring? NOTHING over a C combi or E combi. It would be more expensive then an E combi with probably less space than a C combi.

5er GT actually brings something fresh (raised sitting position/ample space) compared to the 5er/3er Touring.

I like everything except for the round shape of the greenhouse... It reminds me of the R Class quite alot... I'm on the fence for this but the details that will be inherited by the CLS should be stunning.

hope they keep those sidemirrors, look great. ... probably not though, since they need to be elephant ears thesedays

Looks stunning. MB is definitely on the right track again.

I even like the steering wheel. Must a first for me concering a Mercedes model!

The concept carries the production code X218 (the CLS sedan is known internally as C218), which we believe is another indication that this car is only a short step from production.

X218 production is scheduled to start in late 2011, in Sindelfingen. :eusa_clap

**** me..that looks even better in real life pics..
Those headlights must be the best looking ever..
And the interior is looking sooo much better than the press pics..

Those new pictures, especially of the interior, show the amazing attention to detail that went into this car in my opinion. The interior is stylish (I would never have come up with such fancy air vents!), futuristic and yet also elegant - and the amazing to detail is amazing. Better than any current MB interior on the market in my book.

Love it. :usa7uh:
