The car has a new engine, I've done 5000km in it since then, and apparently it's used 5 litres of oil.... but not warned me that it's low on oil.

Edit : or how much oil does an engine hold ?

Surely they put enough oil in it after they installed the engine ??

This Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe was dipped in silver

The Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe facelift has just got its portion of fame. Or in-fame, we might call it, since the owner of the new car wrapped it in mirror-like silver chrome.

The owner of this Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe facelift lives in Hong Kong and he wanted a car that would stand out in the crowed traffic of the capital city.

The aftermarket specialist Impressive Wrap is to praise (or blame) for covering the car in a shiny armor, humoring the driver who can now do anything but keep a low profile.
The car comes with a soundtrack that turns just as many heads, delivered form the 4.0-liter V8 engine, replacing the former 5.5-liter V8 under the hood and taking the power up to 610 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. The figures make the car flash from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the model it replaces, on its way to its top speed limited electronically at 250 km/h (155 mph).
The Panamericana radiator grille kept its ground at the front fascia, highlighting the fact that the model is different from a standard S-Class Coupe.
The Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe facelift is not the first – and surely not the last Mercedes to dress the chrome wrap suit. Check out the craziest of them all: the purple SL 65 AMG Black Series.

1. Why did you have your engine replaced?

2. Did you really say that a brand new engine drinks 1l of oil per 1000km? WTF?

The engine kept blowing spark plugs and running weird - shaking. Had about 4 breakdowns. Then they just wanted to replace the bottom half of the engine, then realised they needed an entire new one. I don't know, I should really ask for the full report. Something was bent inside where the cylinder is. After that they didn't connect the coolant system properly, twice. Which results in loss of fluid, after that several other electrical gremlins that had something to do with the cable harness, they created a bypass for the harness and now there is an entirely new cable harness on order, which I can imagine for an S-Class will take a while.

In 5000km since the getting the new engine the oil was basically just touching the bottom of the dipstick. No warnings, straight to 'low oil pressure, stop car immediately'

"Low oil pressure" doesn't necessarilly mean "low oil". It can be caused by faulty oil pump. It can in its turn cause oil starvation. Long oil starvation = engine replacement.

Nevertheless I did not expect Mercedes customer service and service itself to be so bad in Germany...

It's Switzerland, to be honest, they've really done their best, they've just had a lot of bad luck, as have I. It must have been a huge job and the young mechanics just don't know how to replace an engine like that, they're used to completely different jobs.

No other car I've had has been a problem and for the most part our dealer bends over backwards for us.... This has just been a really difficult case for everyone.

An indepth ownership experience shared by Chris Haris in the proper way this car has to be seen, brilliant video.

Great review, he has many positive things to say about this car, especially the comfort and noise levels and funny he says it feels like a 3-series down a curvy road.

Haven't watched the video, is this his?
Wondering why he didn't get the facelift if it's a press car.

He’s preaching to the choir. Overall, the S63 coupé is the best car I’ve owned. It does everything exceedingly well.

I think that is his personal car. It has appeared more than once in his instagram over the past couple of years.

Yes, @Pagani seems so. He’s had it for years I believe. He also had a fl press car for a bit recently.

If the S Coupe isn't replaced, it and the cabrio version will be highly sought after by Benz collectors and aficionados.

I am not too sure. The CL/Scoupe has appalling resale value outside of warranty. There is very little demand for it as a used car.

I am, the S Coupe and especially the Cabriolet have far better resale value here in the U.S. than the S Sedan does. They're rare and the values are holding. Very few if any European cars have great resale outside of warranty, as they're all a pain in the ass to maintain. Mercedes is no different.

Not to mention the insane monthly costs you would have for an old car. Over here you pay taxes over what the car costed new, even when you buy it secondhand.

Nevertheless, yes, it will be desireable and sought after for some.
