Fascinating to see that Mercedes have finally now faced the same issue that M addressed a generation ago.... no room for fog lights! :D

Pretty flawless package, it looks great all around.

The steering wheel completes the sporty packaging of the interior, really nice looking AMG addition. (This one should have been fitted in the S AMG sedans with sportier seats, setting it apart from the norm S550.)

Mercedes seems to have mastered the "British like" coach-builder look of the interior. Old-World sophistication and elegance that will age far better than the industrial designs of the past.

Agreed. The coach builder look started with W221 and it was way above its immediate rivals, including the Jaguar XJ, in terms of elegance in design that can be called old world. The current S class coupe or sedan took the W221 design theme even further to rival the best in aristocracy and old world charm and mating it with new gadgets. However Mercedes use to have beautiful, flamboyant interiors before the "spartan" and functional W116. The W100/108 or the S badged fintail interiors had the design flare to compete with any interior from RR or Bentley of that era imo. W116 and W126 interiors were all very functional to the extent that W126 had the wood chopped off on the door panels even on the top models. But these functional interiors had their own charm. Yes they are less luxurious in appearance but imo they have aged very well and look very modern compared to some British interiors of 1970s and 1980s. Only the W220 interior looks aged and that is due to the poor surface quality of the materials used compared to the previous or future generations of the S classes.

Lovely design, lovely interior, aaaand it's an AMG...Think I have a new favorite GT car...
