If you're a real high value client you can go directly to Stuttgart and get exactly what you want.

Iirc they have a more extensive manufaktur system for true personalisation if you got the money for it.

I'm sure it you want a S63 with the regular S class grille you can go to Mercedes and get it. Or an S63 without the E performance parts. If you have enough money.
I highly doubt they can make you an S 63 without the E Performance parts if such a model (S 63 Pro?!) is not part of the model lineup. MAYBE they can give you the traditional grille, but I have my doubts on that too.

I mean, wouldn't an S63 without e performance parts just be an S580, but with the uptuned M177 and 612PS? Heck the facelift S580 is binning the M176 in favour of the AMG M177 (along with a minor power bump).
Grille I guess depends on the cooling requirements, but it's surely not impossible

Autocar test did not give the S63 a good rating, only 3.5 stars. It is strange almost everything they had a negative comment about, the suspension comfort compared to a normal S-class, the higher noise levels, the driveline shunt etc. Autocar has a love-hate relationship with Mercedes at the moment.

I've read a lot of their recent reviews and the score often doesn't match the words. Or some of the flaws are comically overplayed. It really is nitpicking.

Autocar has always been biased toward British vehicles and particularly critical of MB.

The review is also at odds with the others.

MB has been doing S AMG's forever now and they know what their buyers want. They don't stuff them up.

An S63 makes no sense, but neither do most 200k plus vehicles.

I would pick S580 over S63E.

Few hundred bucks for tune to 660hp. It would be ideal machine. Used are 50-60k which is bargain.

Definitely what most people would do, but for the people who want to be big pimping with the latest and greatest, they won't care about that.

I don't think I've heard any good things about the new S63. From the top of my head Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire and Jonny Lieberman on Spike's Car Radio was saying it's too stiff for an S Class and the boot is compromised due to the battery.

The driving dynamic is mostly very good, some say it's fun to drive for such a large heavy car. Its best to go take one for a spin and come your own conclusion.

It is the excessive weight that makes the suspension crashy. I don’t recall anyone complain about the previous AMG S Class, because the suspension still was handling a similar weight to the regular model.

As a S Class shopper who happens to be often hung up on owning the most powerful engine, my mind is at ease that getting the regular V8 will be plenty special, without the added complexity of the additional power/drivetrain and weight.

Who said the suspension was crashy? Stiff doesn’t mean crashy. I don’t see why Mercedes would have trouble with suspension on this car vs any other heavy sedan they’ve made.

I dunno...I also simply do not "get" this car.

Looking way back, there was an inconspicous, noble elegance that cars such as the W109 300SEL 6.3 and W116 450SEL 6.9 exuded. Iron fists wearing velvet gloves, so to speak. But since then, these super-powerful S-Class AMGs showboat extravagant, vulgar pomposity and excess.

I don’t understand what there is to get tbh. There has been an AMG S for many generations now.

Well, I guess that I "get" that there is a sufficiently large market for these cars and M-B is accomodating it. What I PERSONALLY don't get is the desire for a 5,34 extended wheelbase sedan wearing a "hip" designer training suit and aspiring to be an automotive version of Usain Bolt. But I'll emphasize that this is just me. Also, I have absolutely no problems with cars like the S63 scaled down to W214 dimensions. That absolutely works for me.

There has been AMG S-classes since the W126, so I personally think there is always a market for a pumped-up S-class with a sporty appearance. They seem to be popular in the Middle East where I would think that of all the W221 and W222 S-classes I have seen at least half of them are AMG S63 models. The W223 models I have seen here are mostly S450 and S500, have yet to see a S580 let alone a S63.

It's just this forums usual hyperbolic reaction to anything journalist decide to run with as a tag line for a new vehicle launch. The same guys who said the new C's interior was amazing are complaining about the ride of an S-class. I take most reviews these days with a heavy dose of salt and would much rather form my own views when the opportunity arises.

I've been driving a new C63s for 4 days now, and it is a significant step up from older AMG's in terms of body control, ride compliance and harshness. I don't think the C63 is worth what they are asking for, given the drivetrain and interior misgivings, but after my experience with the C I suspect the S has been deliberately tuned the way it has been.

Mercedes has made no bones it is targeting younger buyers and the exterior design changes and firming up the drive are just part of the package. If the C has struck a great balance, the S would be no exception.

I've also driven the SL63 extensively and will be driving the new AMG GT in the coming month or two. Unfortunately the S63 is no longer imported into Australia.
