Its a pity Brabus doesn't change the black shiny plastic trim for the seat controls to carbon fiber as I see this is the only fly in the ointment of the S-class interior.

The CFO has confirmed that the facelift of the S-Class (W223) will not appear until 2026. The facelift of the S-Class will run from 2026 to 2030.

These are the new features of the facelift for the S-Class:

• New front with a larger grille
• Illuminated grille
• Revised lighting design
• MBUX Superscreen
• Hardware generation 6 for autonomous driving according to level 3 in an intermediate step to 110 km/h. The medium-term goal is 130 km/h.
• Switch to the MB.OS central computer planned
• After the 6-cylinder engines were revised in mid-2023, the V8 M177 will come with the facelift and replace the M176 V8. The power will then increase to over 517 hp + 23 hp (48 volt mild hybrid)

Shame.

My dad has a new car itch and there is absolutely nothing in the MB range for him to consider. Other than the new E, the rest of the range leaves much to be desired in terms of luxury and finish. No desirable luxury coupes to speak of. The EQ's are stylistically polarising, poorly finished and you may as well flush your money down the toilet, as is the case with any other 'premium' EV.

The 7 is huge and grotesque and you simply don't touch a BMW or Audi over AUD$200k here down under. BMW dealers are running insane discounts on 'Demo' 7s in order to move them.

This is a major reason Mercedes must introduce a full range of PHEV S-class models next year, not in 2026. The same is true for the GLE/GLS; their powertrains need to be converted to full PHEVs to cut emissions required in 2025, when the fleet needs to have an average of 93.6g CO2/km up to 2029.

From 2030 it needs to reduce further to 49.5g CO2/km and continue until 2034, in 2035 it needs to be 100% EV.

But it looks like they maybe wont meet their targets in 2025 due to late introductions of EV models.

In 2025, the EU fleet limits will be tightened. Mercedes sells a lot of plug-in hybrids, but lags behind in pure electric car sales.

CFO Harald Wilhelm has now admitted that there is a possibility that the EU's CO2 fleet targets may not be met for the first time in 2025.

Although the pipeline is full of new electric models such as the CLA (up to 750 km), electric C-Class (up to 850 km) and the electric GLC, most of the models will not be fully available until 2026.

The electric CLA was recently teased as a prototype, but there seem to be either delays or the ramp-up is too slow in 2025, so it is currently not expected that the CO2 fleet targets will be met. The company wants to meet them again by 2026 using its own efforts.

Is the CLA too late to achieve the CO2 targets in 2025?


Depending on the specific sales figures in 2025 and the sales mix, the fine could amount to up to EUR 912 million as of today.

But Mercedes will not let it get that far and has already announced pooling as a solution for 2025. Formally on paper, a vehicle fleet is then formed with another manufacturer that exceeds its target. This is then financially regulated with the manufacturer and is cheaper than the fine imposed by the EU. Volvo, for example, would be a good option here, as they are already meeting the 2025 CO2 target. Mercedes could use its contacts through Geely here, as Geely is a joint venture partner at smart, holds around 10% of shares in Mercedes-Benz and is also the owner of Volvo.

Alternatively, you could invest the money you pay to the other manufacturer in cheaper leasing rates for electric cars and achieve the goal yourself.

Mercedes must sell more plug-in hybrids in 2025.


Many manufacturers currently seem to be taking this path. There are significant price reductions for electric cars from numerous manufacturers:

• Kia EV3 (significantly cheaper than its predecessor eNiro)
• Kia EV6 (facelift was reduced by 2,000 EUR)
• Hyundai inoq5 (price reduction of 2,500 EUR)
• Hyundai insta (new from approx. 24,000 EUR)
• Opel eCorsa (around 4,600 EUR)
• Opel eMokka (over 7,980 EUR)
• VW ID3 (now available for under 30,000 EUR)
• smart with bonuses of up to 8,000 EUR discount

Mercedes is currently offering an 11% discount on the EQA and EQB.

At the moment it looks as though smart sales figures in Europe are not large enough for the introduction of the #5 to solve the problem for Mercedes in 2025.

Finally saw this beast in the wild, first time in person at my local dealer over the weekend. They were closed and I had no chance to ask for a test drive. I must say, it looks… different from a regular model. Quite a presence. I’d never want to own it outside of warranty and I can’t (yet) justify the lease cost. Shame it’s not a wise decision to buy used (reliability questions).

This is the most boring AMG in the lineup , especially a fully black one, with chrome elements , and the star....

I don't think they were aiming for graceful when they approved that grille.

I don’t disagree. The car has a limited audience: those S Class owners that want the highest specification available, people who would go for the S 600 and S 65.

I’d go for a Desert Sand, Alpine Gray or even a designo white one myself, with one of the earthier Manufactur designo options (darker reds or the creamy almost yellowish one)

I’d go for a Desert Sand, Alpine Gray or even a designo white one myself, with one of the earthier Manufactur designo options (darker reds or the creamy almost yellowish one)

If you're a real high value client you can go directly to Stuttgart and get exactly what you want.

Iirc they have a more extensive manufaktur system for true personalisation if you got the money for it.

I'm sure it you want a S63 with the regular S class grille you can go to Mercedes and get it. Or an S63 without the E performance parts. If you have enough money.
