S-Class W222 [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
Merc1: Thanks for the heads-up. I'm glad that is available int he US now. It was nice to be able to configure it and verify the prices and compatibility of options. A few prices changed slightly but it was pretty close. One has to wonder when the options on a new car cost more than my first new car in total. Then again, when a car costs more than my first house, we are in a different ballgame, eh? I say again it is going to be a brutal wait until I go pick this car up in Stuttgart in March.

Thanks again,

Tom

Yeah the options are extensive to say the least. They way I would get one comes out to about 126K.

Mercedes really needs a 360-375hp S350 with a new I6 for 2016 IMO. Entry level with good power, but a 10-15K cheaper base price.

Mercedes will be printing money for the first 24 months or so. S550, S63, S600, S65 and then the S500 hybrid. I hope an I6 and a diesel model shows up in the U.S. in the next couple of years, but right now with dealers sitting on so many orders, there is no need to do an entry-level model.

The Plus One Sport Package looks better than the AMG package IMO and the only real difference is the wheels.

I love 5 spoke wheels, had them on all my S classes, but this is the first S class I will own that the 5 spokes look inferior. Shocking to me.....That makes no sense to me whatsoever, but all I know is that it is the truth.

I went to MBUSA to build my car (that I've already ordered weeks ago) and I found out something that I didn't know before........ If you get the exclusive nappa, the trim package is not the only requirement...you also are forced to get the power outboard rearseats with memory which is $1515.00.

I did not know this because this was not in any of the ordering guides that I read. So it looks like my car is 1500 bucks more expensive than I calculated....and I maybe have lost some trunk space without even knowing it.....???

Hey man, If you ordered a Mercedes S-Class, will not be a problem 1500 bucks, I guess :) If you only read the ordering guides without sign them, you must give them the money

Don't care about the money. Just thought it was interesting that this wasn't included in the guides.

The MBUSA configurator moved the Exclusive Nappa Leather back to a price of TBD and Limited Availability. Does anyone have an active order date with that interior? I'm guessing it is limited availability in the early stages. I'm hoping any supply issues would be alleviated by February when they build mine.

I have a long ;list of things I would love to do and film in this car. I would love to give a serious test of the safety systems. We see some YouTube videos that show limited autonomous driving (MotoMan was a good one). But I want to see how often it complains when you do not touch the wheel. Can I just put a finger lightly on the wheel or do I need to grip it? I would also like to see the auto-braking systems in a better demo. Drive in the High School parking lot and have someone step out in front of the slow moving car. Does it auto-brake?

I think the better quality demos are rushed and it would be nice to see some exhaustive demos of them. Maybe I will have to wait until Top Gear gets their hands on one--although I expect they will go for the AMG version to try.

I hope as the car hits the US, we will see more of that.

Then again, after mine is shipped, maybe posting on the Internet is the last thing I will want to do in lieu of driving :)

My S550 has Black exclusive Nappa and it was built today. There was no shortage on black exclusive option but there is now because of increased demand.

Sam,
Will your car reach the dealership in time for supposed Oct15th release date?
Mine is scheduled for Oct1st build...
