Interesting how in above picture outter rear belts are in black/blue and inner belt is beige. Nice touch

I thought his English was very good. We should not confuse bad English (syntax, etc) with an accented English, which the above is. I thought he spoke very poetically about a lot of the aspects of design. Being second-language English speaker myself, I could see that he was translating his thought process, and honestly doing a great job at it, because the video does not come off as having a script (unlike, say, Apple's Jony Ive looking at the prompter and pretending to be pensive while reminiscing about the iPad). As part of my job, I also have spoken on camera and it is not the easiest thing to carry on and look natural, even on a taped format.
Didn't mean that in a disrespective way :)
That what I meant by honest. He was thinking and talking in his third language at the same time, which resulted in some badly constructed sentences. I'm not a native speaker either, so I'm not judging :)

interesting that they pulled the videos. I guess honesty doesn't work with big corporations. criticizing the current model and talking about your own history (not being working for the company at the time) may be reason for that. I hope it's not because that would be lame. wouldn't surprise me though.

The main thing that I loved was how he spoke with his heart, a very deep burning passion. Everything design element had a very deep meaning and each atom and molecule of his being was bonded with the whole car.

Sorry guys but this is definatly NOT the new Pullman.
Because Pullman was allways quite longer, because of 2 rows of seats.
This is 100 % ''just'' the XL wheelbase version.

Aaaah, that first interior pic reminds of The Leader of Brotherhood and Unity;)

He was extremely rich, a dictator, and had very, very good taste in everthing money can buy.

Fantastic videos from the designer of the S-class!

Such attention to detail that would 90% of the time go completely unnoticed.

Ahhhhh...Its S-class and he makes this perfectly fitting hand gesture, that's his justification for almost everything on the car. Watch from 6:45 to 7:00, Part 2.

Wish more companies release videos like this, there is no BS, jargon or fancy graphics, just straight forward language to explain and highlight the subtle details.

sorry lots of bullshit, "i drive a mercedes e station, ordinary nothing special"... so millions of people cant afford a non special e-class station?

"this chrome line here, we made it in one piece..." very special, congrats.... ey come on...

they sketch a car, find nice porpotions with a couple of designers, change this, change that, oohh that looks good..

and afterwards, they find the right words for it...

thats what designers do... how to wrap your final product in to words.

y an d proper english... pffft.

The E-class is nothing special within the Mercedes range, millions have bought it, taxi drivers use it as a tool. There are a lot of things millions of people cannot afford, such as basic food, or have internet access.

"this chrome line here, we made it in one piece..." very special, congrats.... ey come on...
He was saying they could have made it in two pieces but chose not to because it will detract from the overall design of the car. He didn't say it was something extraordinarily special.

Isn't that what designers do? Chose the best theme, change the details until they are satisfied with their work? Then you will need to find the most appropriate words to express your ideas.

y an d proper english... pffft.

Obviously English isn't his first language but that doesn't stop him from sharing his enthusiasm of his design with others around the world.
