this blue-beige interior has some british-style in it

it remembers me a litle bit (in a color way, not in the design way) on this exotic car

I think Mercedes made it pretty clear that they don't give an ounce of **** about any of their other cars. I don't know how I could ever buy another Mercedes model knowing that it wasn't made to be the absolute best car it could possibly be...and that they weren't as invested in it as it is humanly possible. This seems very apparent as they keep emphasizing how quality standards, R&D, etc, are "exceptionally high" for the S? Why isn't this the case with every single model? This might help to generate sales for the S, but while s******g on all their other cars. If they had this attitude, they should only make the S, and make that their UTMOST priority, which is what they do now, but they sort of half-*** their other cars, a big turnoff.

Simple. Economics.

Would anyone buy a C-class that was $25,000 more than it's rivals because Mercedes lavished money on R&D? Not in this day and age. The S affords this luxury because it stands at the pinnacle of the range.

Well, isn't this the exact case with the S? This philosophy should work with its lower-end models too, but obviously not with a $25K difference, but more like $5-10K. If the C/E followed this trend, being a little more expensive (not enough to push them into the next category) but while being head and shoulders above the competition, I think they would have a much greater market share, like the S.

In the pic below (taken from an ad someone posted of a local dealerships vehicles) it looks like the leather is already wrinkling and becoming saggy....surely this isn't the case already??

The softer more expensive leathers are very prone to this.... a good leather conditioner will plump it back up again, but it's very annoying.

The average demographic for an S class buyer (US) makes $375,000/yr and is 61 years old. The S class is priced higher than any of its competitors, but the demographic buying this car has more income to spend on a car.

As a much younger buyer (28 yrs old) I am certainly out of the norm, but have the income to spend on the vehicle, and I want the quality, technology, and latest R&D money can buy. Most of my friends of the same age are not in this situation. Their budgets require them to be more frugal. Those who can afford to consider a C/E class do so to balance quality, show off the name, and enjoy what the model has to offer. I can say with great confidence many would easily shop elsewhere if the price was 5-10k above the competition. Regardless if they offered more options & better quality. Simply because 5-10k is a much larger % of their income, than 10-25k is of mine & most other buyers of the S class for that matter. Just my .02
