Isn't it the wheels for AMG models only? The two spoke wheel was unique and was classy for its luxury character, so wish they retain it for regular models.

I will tell you that the S class, will always be for me the best car in the world, I know there are better ...:-)

By the way, I don't know if many people know this, but when it's a dead battery in the S-Class, and this piece was, it even does not work soft close door, what surprised me very much.

Well, the soft close doors work with little electrical motors. That explanes it.

But they still need electricity to execute in some way or another. Engineers among us, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

That 3 spoke steering wheel looks fantastic with wood and white leather.

three spokes for an S steering wheel, not too sure.....some people rightly pointed out, the 2 spoke is incredibly high class and unique, this 3-spoke however is more generic available even on a B class

What I don't like about the threespoke steering wheel, is that it's flattened at the underside/lower part. As if it where the steering wheel of a sportscar, which a S-Klasse obviously isn't. I've driven now a few S-Klasse with this steering wheel (it comes with the normal AMG package) and I don't like it in practice as well. After taking a corner, the wheel just doesn't slide ever so nicely through your hands in normal position. You feel those 'bumps' from the lower part of the wheel. I wouldn't want to have it.

Short update after 53.000 km.
Postive: the drive is very comfortable and relaxed. The perfect cruiser. S-Klasse gives you an undistinct feeling of soevereignty, you feel never hurried or stressed. Fuel efficiency is, for a car this size and weight, fenomenal. Overall consumption 5.7 ltrs/100 km according to board computer, 6.1 ltrs/100 km according to Mick Briesgau. All technical 'gadgets' function perfectly.

For two weeks or so, I encountered some annoying technical/electrical problems. Because of this, I had to bring my car two times (extra) to the garage. What I dislike most is the loss of time because of this. Two sensors gave fault signals to the motormanagement. One of them was a differental pressure sensor, which estimates the amount (mass) of the soot accumulated in a diesel particulate filter, in order to utilize accurate DPF regeneration strategies. Furthermore a shortcut occured, which led to error notifications. If it did, my car came in some sort of security mode. This resulted in very poor power and rough gearshifts. Solving this problem took two days. No need to say, that I was quite disappointed. This is my 5th Mercedes-Benz in row, my 3rd S-Klasse and the worst I've ever had. Last couple of thousend kilometres no problems.

Are you calling it worst just because of the two issues you encountered or are there more issues with the car?

From a S-Klasse I expect nothing else but perfection. Even if there was only one issue, it's one too many. My both W221 were perfect; no issues whatsoever.
With my current car, I also had an squeek-issue with the driver's door (I've written about that a few months ago). So yes, this is the worst S-Klasse I've had so far.

Mick I am really surprised and saddened to hear about the problems you are facing with your W222, hoping that these will not change your view of the brand and then change to a G11 BMW 7-series as your next car! :)

No offence to you still I wouldn't call a brand/car worst just for few minor lapses. Then again who am I to say this, I do not own an S or any car of this sort so I do not know what customer expectations are for cars like these. Hope the car wont disappoint you further.
