Interesting to see that almost everything is painted orange (even the S400+Hybrid badge and the exhaust tail). The horizontal chrome strip and the Star however are not painted. @Wolfgang do you have an idea why those parts aren't painted but all the others are? Thanks!

Suspect that's the S from the S-Class vs smart fortwo crash test last year, which also had chrome applications attached to the usually orange painted crash test vehicle. :)

And they just erected a new crash test center. It's called "Technology Center for Vehicle Safety" (TFS) and appears to be the squarish building with the green roof on the lower right side. The design center with the white winged roof is to the left, and in between the driving simulator (opened in 2010), the climatic wind tunnel (2011) and the new aeroacoustic wind tunnel (2013) for the Maybach et al. :)

Daimler's TFS press release concludes thusly:

"The company's crash tests always exceed the number and complexity of the legally required tests. The current development programme for new ready-to-produce models comprises around 15,000 realistic crash test simulations and over 150 crash tests. These include not just the approximately 40 different impact configurations required for ratings and worldwide vehicle homologation, but also especially exacting crash tests such as the roof-drop test that are carried out in addition by the company."

Some folks were seen visiting the old crash test facility, thus suspecting we may see a new movie in a couple of weeks, and maybe even an article on the Daimler Blog. :)

The 9G-Tronic is presently shipping in the S-Class, Rolf, in the Mercedes-Maybach S 500 and the Mercedes-Benz S 500 Coupe. The current version can not yet take the full torque of the AMG engines, and those models usually may follow a little later. :)

He makes those Instagram pics right? What is his function?

@Mick Briesgau that Difference Pressure Sensor (Differenzdrucksensor) is very liable to make mistakes, in all of my Merc Diesels (from E to S, from 4 Cyl to 5 Cyl) i ve changed them nearly 3 times so far.
When that Part gets defective it puts your car in to safe mode to protect your engine from damage.
You lose power and the transmission works faulty. Since that part is cheap (about 70 Euro) and easy to exchange its not really a big disaster.

The Problem is how the Mercedes Garages deal with it.

I was always told that my Diesel Particle Filter was full and that it has nothing to do with the Sensor.
Its the other way around, when the Sensor is faulty, it fills up the Diesel Particle Filter and replacing that is very expensive.

So i went to an expert, he changed that sensor and wished me luck - that the Diesel Particle Filter would regenerate again.

And Mick, a friend of mine invited me to drive his S 500, the longer i drove it - i loved it more.
After returning to my 730d it took me 2 days to love it again :)

Okay you cant compare a Diesel to a S500 but... that atmosphere in that S500 - respect nice done Merc.
