S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020. It succeeded the W221 S-Class and is the predecessor to the W223 S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman). Production: June 2013 – September 2020. Model years: 2014–2020.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé and Convertible (C217/A217) are the S-Class grand tourers manufactured from 2014 to 2020. Production: November 2014 – August 2020. Model years: 2015–2021.
BTW, another S600 rumor emerged from MB Passion recently. In addition to the S600 LWB (V222) with more rear legroom and more suitable for being chauffeured, the S600 will also be offered as SWB for folks who like to drive themselves. :)

The S-class is just that exceptional to me. The Bentley is behind on technology, the Ghost can't be driven in a swift manner (I get impatient sometimes) without letting you know your inputs are rude and promptly leaning over on its soft suspension to an occasionally comical degree. So it will be reserved for formal occasions, while the S550 will be for taking clients out and getting me where I need to go on a daily basis.

Serpens, where are you located?

This car looks really sweet in classic black... Does anyone know what language this is?

Droped by the dealer hoping to check out one of these, and yes there was an S400L hybrid on the floor. After staring at it from every angle and taking a sit from driving position to rearseat(the latter of which is so impressive) I just walked out of the hall with a big smile on my face.totally convinced.(y)

Can anyone comment on how the WiFi hotspot works? Specifically, what provides the data connection for the car to get to the Internet? I presumed one had to connect the car to a smartphone (iPhone for example) and the car would then use that to get to the Internet. That seems logical. However, if one uses the hotspot, then you would need tethering of some sort. Another option is that the subscription fee for MBrace includes the mobile connection to the local network.

I read this on the MBUSA site:

No need to leave the Internet at home, or to worry about your cell-phone plan's data usage rates with the standard in-car WiFi. Your S-Class is a rolling WiFi hotspot, with a secure, high-speed connection that powers such features as the search tools of Mercedes-Benz mbrace2™ and the endless entertainment of TuneIn world radio. Your passengers can sign in as well, with as many as four external wireless devices at a time, helping keep everyone connected on the go.

The part about no need to worry about your cell-phone's data usage makes me think this is done with an internal LTE hotspot that connects to a network wihtout need for any external phone.

Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Tom Schaefer

Wow, I didn't know this. The Audi A8 has some company now. I would imagine that is exactly how it works, but no tethering needed??
