S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
Oh ok. I need some help from some people buying this new S class in the states. I know people say you can never negotiate a new car in the fall, but I have this feeling that I have a shot. Was wondering if anyone else was gonna try.

Yeah I know what people are gonna say, "If you can afford this car, you don't need to negotiate." But why not, saving is saving no matter how rich you are.....
Just depends on the market. The car won't officially hit until Sept 20, and it's not as if cars will just be sitting on the lots at that time. As it looks now, supply will be tight, and it will be much later than December before prices are impacted. A lot of dealers are already ordered out till the first of the year. It's a catch 22. If you wait, you could actually end up into the first of the year and still not save anything dramatic. Or, order now with the thought of paying closer to MSRP. Either way, if you are in the financial position that this is actually a delimma, I have no pity for you! :p Great problem to have.

On full sunlight...

Proportions are just insane. S looks sportier than ever.....

Simply drop-dead gorgeous in this particular specification. If there is a "drivers" W222 S-Class-it has to be this one.

Not a financial issue with saving a few thousand, just a principal. Nobody buys cars at MSRP unless for a very rare scenario such as this. But if I have to pay full price, not a problem. Just wanted to see if anyone out there is gonna try/have tried to negotiate this early...

I think you should prepare to negotiate to pay ONLY msrp, and NOT $10-15K OVER msrp...
I have bought 4 mercedes already from my dealer, AND I know the owner personally... And to be frank, I fully expect to pay msrp... Normally, I would get invoice or employee pricing for my cars...
If I think back to March '06, the early 221s were selling for $15-18k ABOVE msrp, and the 222 seems to have far more anticipation...
That's why I opted for a 220 for $25k off msrp...:-)
But, then again, there were a bunch of 220s still left on dealer lots back then... I think MB learned its lesson and most dealers are probably already out of 221s this time around...

German Car Forum is without a doubt, the most active, interesting and informative Mercedes forum available. I have owned (new) S-Classes since 1986 and every model since the W126 including two W221's and one CL63, most recently a 2013 with a 536000 vin. After the dust settles on the new S in a year or so, I will order a new W222, know what options I want, get a little more discount and hopefully avoid any first year W220 problems. Keep up the great postings - it's greatly appreciated !

If you order right now a W222 in Germany, expected deliverydate will be second quartal 2014. Waiting period will be about 8 months. Coming back on Kratos-TM's negotiation aspect; there isn't much left to negotiate over here in Germany. I expect a maximum of 2% on the cars listprice.
I'd advice to wait till modelyear 2015 (delivery from july 2014 on), that comes with HUD and probably 9-speed gearbox.

Yeah I dunno what to say about that. Could be that a lot of actual buyers just don't hang out on forums. There are plenty of buyers, but they aren't talking I guess. There has to be a board out there with some insight though, good luck and lets us know what you decide and if you do go with an S-Class post some pics for us here!

Guess you're right, S class buyers for the most part aren't exactly young tech junks who like browsing forums.
But I do however think this is one of the most active S class forums on the entire (English language) internet..??

I have a theory to all of this but it may sound wrong saying it out loud.....but my theory is that most Mercedes owners in the forums (other than this forum) only want to buy them older and used, when the prices are down. So there's no interest in the new flagship yet....

S class buyers for the most part simply can't be bothered visiting forums. Wasted time for a big shot CEO.

Hi Mick!
I did order mine three weeks ago. Delivery date is December. But I did reserve that slot half a year ago... ;-)
So Long

Hi sl123,
I had that possibility as well. But I wanted to drive it before buying it. Personal thing; never buy a cat that I haven't driven yet. Now that I know, it'll take at about 8-9 months for delivery, I''l be waiting for the modellyear 2015. Order will take place in oktober/november to be sure to get it in june/july 2014.

By the way: congrats on yours! :)

Most S-Klasse buyers I know of, aren't CEO. Just your normal doctors, architects, small entrepreneurs and lawyers (like yours truly ;)).

Yeah that's true those people too, but still, the S class crowd for the most part can't be bothered visiting forums right

I think discount is too personal to discuss here. It involves who you are for the brand. I only can say in public no one here would believe what we have paid....;)

Its a 145k car and only gave us 20k for w221 (´05 - 455k km), but discount was "goooood"...:D

I would consider Euro 20K quite reasonable for a W221 with 455,000 kms on the clock.

Good discount ? :D

In my country,at this price you would get an maximum 150000km car with a lot of options, and with a little luck,an 2010 facelift :)

Consumes 3 liters / 100 km

Mercedes-Benz has revealed online the 2014 S500 Plug-In Hybrid which will be shown to the public at Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
At its heart is a new turbocharged V6 3.0-liter gasoline engine delivering 328 bhp (245 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. It works combined with an electric motor that offers an extra 107 bhp (80 kW) and 340 Nm (251 lb-ft). This setup enables a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in just 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
Mercedes-Benz says the S500 Plug-In Hybrid has a NEDC overall fuel consumption of 3 liters / 100 km (78.4 mpg US or 94.1 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 69 g/km. The German automaker mentions the car can travel solely on electric power for approximately 18.6 miles (30 km).
By pressing a button the driver can choose from one of the following driving modes: Hybrid, E-Mode (electric power only), E-Save (fully-charged battery is maintained for later electric-only use) and Charge (battery is being charged while driving).
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-In Hybrid is scheduled to reach dealerships sometime next year.
More details can be found in the attached press release.
