the w221 had an almost 8 years lifecycle.Should be the standard 7 shouldn't it ?
W221 intro 2005, FL 2009, new S 2013 (8 years).is the lifecycle of the w222 expected to be 7 years or 8 years?
As perfect as this S-class is, i wouldn't object to a 2nd facelift.W221 intro 2005, FL 2009, new S 2013 (8 years).
W222 intro 2013, FL 2017, new S 2021? I wouldn’t be surprised if it stays ‘till 2021. It’s still selling very well and gives MB more time to develop complicated autonomous technique.
Exactly, the only car that will date the current S class is the next S class, if MB do a good job with it.As perfect as this S-class is, i wouldn't object to a 2nd facelift.
-Add MBUX. Add next gen autonomous driving. Exterior and interior refresh.
This chassis is bliss.
I wouldn’t have any objections myself. As far as MBUX is concerned, that doesn’t bring much more than a touchscreen possibility. The current Comand NTG 5.5 already offers for instance the advanced linguatronic/voicecontrol...As perfect as this S-class is, i wouldn't object to a 2nd facelift.

@DeDe my friend do you have the scan comparison with the S400 d and S450 in latest AMS mag? I think this is a highly interesting comparison that @Mick Briesgau would be interested in

Luxuslimousine mit neuem Sechszylinder-Diesel oder -Benziner. Vergleichstest
That advert literally helped propel Mercedes Benz to a level of automobile safety that was benchmark stuff in those days. I still remember driving along Chapman's drive when I was a kid and my dad was driving a 1975 W116 350SE at the same time this advert came out and he could never stop talking about it feeling quite proud that he had bought that S-class for our family. He was really chuffed with that car as it was also built like a tank with incredible heavy doors that closed like a bank vault. We always felt very safe and comfortable in that 350SE.I don't see this video posted here or in the Mercedes Benz media thread, perhaps I need to look harder...
Still, it's worth slotting this in the S-Class thread too.
Pretty powerful stuff. I remember that ad running in SA like it was yesterday.
I also must add that I way prefer "Engineered like no other car in the world" over the pretentious "The Best or Nothing" catchphrase. My grandfather had the same W123 - he was chuffed as chips when that ad came out.
WOW powerful stuff. Are they going to bring that slogan back now? That would be great. That said, cars were tanks then, a modern S-Class driver won't survive such a crash I'm sure.
