The FL S 63 has finally hit the showroom, surprise to see this one with minimal options. I would at least expect to see it with the exclusive option with full nappa interior trim and extended wood trim. It is a must have for the top of the range S class, especially one with a price of over $400k AUD.

Oh the Luxury car tax is still here to protect the income of politicians, nothing more. :(

How cynical of you Derek. We all know, along with the fuel excise, LCT is being used to provide us with better roads and promote road safety.

In that case, I'd never buy any luxury car new? Or just buy a loaded ex-demostrator.

LCT still applies to demonstrators.

But yes buying a 6-12 month old vehilce makes fantastic financial sense. I try buying slightly used vehicles, but my problem is that I'm always waiting for a new model to turn up. If I wasn't convinced the X3 M40i was the best car for me, I would have bought a 6-12 month old GLC43.

In that case, I'd never buy any luxury car new.. I'd go for a loaded ex-demonstrator or a certified pre-owned car. But if you're leasing I assume there's no way around it.
Yes and no, the problem is that because the new car prices are inflated by the LCT, the used car prices are often determined based on a % of the inflated new car price with the LCT.

Oh don't forget the motor vehicle tax every time you renew your car registration.

Is this a joke or reality?
It is sadly not a joke, I am in the process of renewing the rego for all 3 cars, $522 AUD per car per year, and follow by another $480 compulsory third party property car insurance (with 10% GST on top) per car per year....

The real joke is the federal and state government, high car prices and high road taxes, and tax on top of taxes.

Those taxes are high. I bought my Skoda 2 weeks before they increased annual emission taxes here in the UK. I pay £20($36 AUD) for the Skoda instead of the new £130($236 AUD).

For a change, it's pleasant to get a car related bill that's less than a meal out.

And on top of that, it's a police state and you can't drive your car fast.... and the roads are sh!t. Don't get me wrong, I still call Australia home. :-D

On the plus side no one spits on my car and calls me a sh!t capitalist in Australia. :ROFLMAO:

The roads here are so bad that you can't drive fast without risking being bounced off the lane, not to mention the loose rocks being left on the roads after emergency "repairs"

That is not good at all, however i rather the spits than being keyed all around, and have other people opening their car door into yours, deliberately. My barely driven C class already received a deep scratch into the side mirror cover.

Someone knocked my mirror off the SL at the bottle shop in Yamba.... they must have moved their car after they did it, I am guessing they were in the shop with me. So rude. I asked the staff if they had any camera set up, so annoying, the mirror was hanging out by the wires. I was only in the shop a couple minutes.
