S-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet (A217)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.
I am not feeling Brabus' beastly regalia on the cabriolet. With the cabriolet, I feel it's M.O. is more effortless grace rather than a pugilist.

Agreed. I saw a white Brabus S63 the other the day - the carbon fiber flicks/intakes on the front and rear bumper take away from the natural beauty of the S Coupé. Design for design's sake and overpriced.

Just for giggles, I went to mbusa.com to configure an S550 Cab. In terms of color choices, both in and out, I found it to be quite limited, especially compared to the S sedan.

I was aiming for a nautical themed Cab with light blue or blue-gray exterior with the blue convertible top and AMG multi-spoke wheels and the interior with a combination of the Ocean Blue and Porcelain leather and Sunburst Myrtle wood. There are two shades of blue paint, both dark. For the interior, while it gained that lively red leather, they decided to omit the Ocean Blue and Nut brown leather found in the sedan. While it's not that big of a deal, I thought the coupe would further expand on the availible items found in the sedan, especially since it's a coupe and more emotive flagship car.

I'm not totally convinced that the S Cabrio is the right car for such a combination, but I've always had a soft spot for silver/graphite paint with a red/burgundy convertible top.

Good points.
I can imagine sometime down the line, maby come face-lift time trim and color options
will increase.

I'm not a cabrio person, but the S Cabrio is a big exception.

My intention was to test drive a S Coupé, but according to a sales associate - dealer allocated Coupés and Cabrios (orders for inventory) are sold as they arrive. I've visited a few MB dealers - same case.

That's weird, how are you are you supposed to make up your mind on what to get if you don't test drive it?

I suppose people can just buy the car because they really like the styling, or had a few MB so they know what they are going to get.

Good to hear. They are both so flippin gorgeous it's understandable why they aren't sitting around on lots.
