GLS [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLS (X167)

The Mercedes-Benz GLS, formerly Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, is a full-size luxury crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2006. The GLS is considered the flagship of the marque's SUV lineup, although the body-on-frame G-Class (originally intended for military off-roading but also offered in luxurious trims) is more expensive and has been in production longer.

The GLS looks much better in person than in photos. In real life it doesn't seem that big, its styling disguises its size quite well. The interior is the only disappointment as its virtually identical to the GLE except for the 3rd row of seats. I hope they update the interior to make it a bigger step upwards in quality and luxury as its been overtaken by many rivals for desirability.

GLS desperately needs a new interior to compete with Range Rover, even X7 is much better inside.

HyperScreen.

I expect the same to the S Class.

Bigger Grille
Stars in the Headlights & Tail Lights
HyperScreen option
New Colors & Interior Combos

Edit: I mean SuperScreen™ -> updated version of HyperScreen™, where the instrument screen is separated due to more natural angle.
Yeah.. good luck with that … I doubt they will reengineer the interior

It isn’t that big. Both the X7 and GLE are around 206-207 “ long while the Escalade is 227” long.

The GLS has always needed to match the actual S Class interior wise instead of a bigger GLE. That has always been its major flaw. It should be their Range Rover.

M

MB really just doesn't get it. Anything with an S in it's name should be engineered, built and finished like an S.

Luckily the S-class brand is just so strong, bastardisation of the name has not changed the market perception of the saloon.

They’re stuck in a difficult situation. They can’t have the GLS start at $118k like the S-class. The starting price of $87k aligns it better with key completion and allows for greater volume. If they raised the starting price up another 20k I’m sure the luxury experience would come along to match.

I’m with you regardless, I do wish they could find a way to make the GLS experience closer to that of the S-class.

For me, it looks like a superscreen.

They must put drastic changes for 2nd FL on EOL model to refresh him for another 3-4 years.

GLS debuted 5.5 years ago... time flying.

Not sure what the idea is sending a luxo bathe ultramassive SUV around the Nordschleif, but have at it I guess.

Maybe if modern cars didn't weigh as much as small busses, they wouldn't need to spend so much money on the suspension for the ride to be soft, while also maintaining good body control.
