GLE Coupe has the same idea as the first BMW X6 (E71) as it was developed from an existing model in its mid-life.
The current BMW X6 is now in its second cycle (the third one is even more absolutely awesome) and the GLC coupe is all new whereas the X4 is again derived from an existing model. The next generation of GLE Coupe will be more in line of what Mercedes intended it to be without the existing limits the original model imposed on it.

X6 is only competition. They mention X6 few times, in terms of comparison, that's all.
You can't comapre GLE coupe with GL(S), G class, X5 etc...
BMW made this segment, so it is logical to compare it with inventor of this segment.
Just like 6GC and A7 are compared with CLS when they came out.
I don't see anything wrong here.
This is GLE cuope review, not head to head.

Orange highlights in conjunction with selected features such as AMG Line exterior, Night Package and the exclusive upholstery variant in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfibre are hallmarks of the new OrangeArt Edition of the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé which is now available for ordering (combined fuel consumption: 10.7-7.2 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 251-187 g/km*). Customers have a choice of an exterior and an interior package, which also combine to perfection. The special models will reach the showrooms from August.

For the paint finish, there is a choice of black, polar white, obsidian black, iridium silver, selenite grey or designo diamond white bright. Strikingly sporty looks are conjured up by 53.3 cm (21-inch) AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels in an exclusive high-gloss black painted finish with orange rim flange and the orange highlights on the front apron. The headlamps of the Intelligent Light System feature a black LED ring.

Striking contrasts in orange are also a defining feature inside the OrangeArt Edition. The interior highlights include sports seats upholstered in black nappa leather/DINAMICA microfibre with orange piping and grey topstitching. This upholstery is exclusive to the Edition.
