GLA (X156) [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class (X156)

The Mercedes-Benz GLA (X156) is the first generation of the GLA subcompact crossover SUV range. Production: December 2013 – November 2019. Model years: 2014–2020.
Hmmm..
Ok I'm gonna have to wait until the pictures of the standard package come out, because I'm not feeling the AMG Package at all.
It doesn't seem to have enough ground clearance which is a problem that almost all cars in this segment have, but I guess Mercedes' attempt to make it extra sporty ended up making the car look more heavy that it supposed to appear. There is something wrong about the proportions of the front. The grill seems to be too low for such a car and the angle of the lights and their incilnation towards the grill, give the impression of a melting front - a problem that exists in a far less severe manner in the new S-class. Less severe because of the position of the grill. The AMG package is too "car-like" rather than "SUV-like" which leads to making it look like a heavier A-class with some ground clearance, but not enough for it to be called an SUV. The standard package might have something to save the proportions. The brown car with the open doors already indicates a better looking rear.

That was my first impression in the spy pics thread directly after the first images leaked. I Have to say that I still keep the same opinion on the front, although i does look better without the AMG pack as is the case in most recent MB models.
Here is a quick Photoshop animation to illustrate what I meant about the proportions..

The new design language works here and on the new S-Class best.

Mercedes is set to get a big push starting next month with the CLA and the S-Class here in the U.S., but this little crossover thingy G-L-A will go on sale next fall with the next generation C-Class, by the time all this shiny new iron is on sale together, MBUSA could see sales of like 350-375K.

Ground clearence? Let me tell you how many people buying this type of cross over ask me about ground clearence. ZERO!!

This is a hatch or wagon without the stigma. (yes, there is a stigma to wagons and hatches here in the US.)

That's true. My friend who lives in the U.S. went into a dealership to buy a hatchback and ended up coming out with only a jumbo box of condoms and Viagra.*

* It was the World's only pharmacy that also sells cars.

Looks better than the GLK and possibly the ML, only the GL and G look more proper.

Sensible pricing, slightly more expensive compared to the X1, right?

This thing is going to sell sell sell, especially in the U.S.

What about China? I think MB missed the momentum in Chinia (unlike the others), and that could be the reason it lags in global sales?

So, any thoughts on China? Is there demand for this category of vehicle?
