G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W464)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

Interestingly that’s not even the AMG.

If it were a special edition, there would be no point in extensive testing and no need for lengthy launch preparations. This will be a car with a long lifespan.

I don't understand the desire/push to make it out to not be a normal production vehicle. It will be as limited as the regular G is vs other Mercedes products.

As I said, normal production vehicle.

TBH I prefer the G63, and as far as I know it should be offered on the EU market, but anything will do, If there’s only one of the lesser models I am fine with that.

It is unbelievable how many different styles of G-class are out there and I have big liking to this classic luxury style CARLEX Vintage version. It's got some brilliant body colour hubcaps.reminiscent of those used on Mercedes cars of the 60s and 70s.

Best Video of the G so far.
But please note he compares it with the 2012 G63 with 2 live axles.

The biggest step came 2018/2019 with the new model, the Mopf in 2024 improved things further with the optional SL Suspension Technology.
But my dealer told me the standard suspension is still the same like the pre Mopf, the AMG Active suspension is as Harry said still an option.

That active suspension needs to be in all versions. I wonder if it's being held back because the piggyback canisters for the hydraulics are to exposed for off-roading.
Wonder if they can sure that up in the future.

My thoughts exactly. These things are sticking out like acne on a teen. Scrape that over a rock and you're toast and likely 10k poorer.
With that said, I absolutely love this car so much. What a perfect machine. Just look at it.

But please note he compares it with the 2012 G63 with 2 live axles.

Which is the previous version and f#cking 15 years old. Harry is becoming a demented old man comparing the new active suspension to that.....actually the whole video is based off this premise. Wild.
