G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz G-Class (W464)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

I agree, I hope they come up with a more elegant solution, but other than that, this is a winner. I'm surprised Mercedes didn't have a problem with Brabus revealing this before their own version. A G63 Cabriolet please. Thanks.

I heard the roof will be fully automatic without Persenning like this one.

And it should arrive immediately after the Baby G, which might get I6 engines.

F me, this is a bold, and perhaps desperate, move from MB to cash in on the G brand.

What else is this vehicle bringing to the range other than further spreading scarce resources? Cash for MB has to be the only motive.

It’s a strange project, own platform, I guess with a ladder frame.

A real 4x4 Schöckl approved, as an EV it’s DOA, it needs the 6 cylinder engines to succeed.

BTW I’d rather develop a Maybach G instead of this thing.

OK again shows us again that he’s not the brightest candle on the cake, how they say in Germany.

I don’t get this criticism. So they have a hot product, are they not supposed to strike while the iron is hot? What other reason does a car company bring out a new model other than to make money? What does any new product bring to the table?

I'm just jaded at MB at the moment. But they could have made money building better products, rather than milking the brand. OK needs to go IMO.

For some reason it gives me so much Defender 110 vibes from this angle

And this is a direct side-view comparison with the G.

Mini G looks more ‘car-like’ compared to the original. Probably has to do with the sloped A-pillar
and lower ride height.

You clearly are because using that logic every brand is milking their brand. This product isn’t even out yet so we don’t know how good or bad it is yet.

Seriously, how dare Mercedes, a publicly traded company, try to make lots of money!! That is such a stupid idea!!

LOL.

I know. I'm sour and jaded and just want some true return to form.

Given the massive impact EV R&D has had on brand, I feel like at this point in time the resources could have been better allocated.

How about new interiors for the GLS and GLE that will need to carry on for another 4 years as just one example. They literally sell hundreds of thousands of these. But rather than offer 'the best or nothing' to what should be valued customers of the brand, the nee Jerk reaction is to milk another of the brands iconic model series. This is after they made a 'cost driven' decision to use a heavy platform for the SL and AMG GT, effectively neutering both products in the marketplace.

Do a baby G, by all means, but get your core products in order first.
