G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz G-Class Facelift (W463)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.
Trailer serious upgrades G class which was not so long speech ? It seems to me that the board is wider than the currently produced G class.

Glad I held off on a current G63. The revised G will slightly be wider to accommodate the new dashboard and transmission tunnel, which means more interior room. In order to keep the vault-like door-locking mechanism, Keyless go will remain omitted.

When this is the real cockpit of the facelift G-class then this is a large change compared to the recent one.
Especially because the facelift will get an implemented screen similar to E- and S-class.
:)

This is just fantastic! W222 style interior in the G will be amazing to see! Truly can't wait to see more, and how the interior will look with the big screens and new HVAC/Nav controls!

New new or just a deep restyle of the old one as always?

Very deep. It's the old car, pretty significantly modified. It's much wider and has an all new interior. As in, completely everything new.

It also looks like it's getting round vents (will suit the car I think) and the Command knob which likely means less buttons. The whole tunnel actually is MUCH bigger now, and the gearshift lever is moved to the steering wheel. And the part of the console where the HVAC and Nav buttons were, is much smaller (because the tunnel below is bigger, the giant 2nd screen is now above it, and there's no need for all that space because of the command knob).

I really like it, a fully modern interior in the good old G Wagon. As I dreamt it. This is going to be amazing!!!! I've been looking at that pic for a good 5 minutes and can already see how good it will be.

Next-gen Mercedes G-Class spied for the first time

New model slated to arrive next year.

Believe it or not, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been on the market for nearly 38 years now with a virtually unmodified boxy body. We are slowly approaching the debut of the next generation G-Wagen, as the German automaker has started work on the all new model.

We have the first batch of spy photos that show a highly camouflaged prototype, wearing a body from the current model. Still, the disguise can’t hide the wider footstep of the car – rumored to grow around four inches (10 centimeters).

Interestingly, the photographed test mule lacks its rear bumper, which gives us a chance to take a look at some components of the car’s four-wheel-drive system. Apparently, some improvements are planned here, as word on the street says Mercedes will adopt an electro-mechanical steering and multi-link front suspension. This will allow the engineers to install modern assistance systems that are currently unavailable for the G-Class.

In terms of design, expect to see the same boxy shape with new aerodynamic details that should reduce the frontal drag coefficient of the SUV. The model will go through a massive diet, which will shave around 440 pounds (200 kilograms), thanks to massive use of lightweight materials.

A variety of six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be available when the new G-Class launches in the end of 2017 with power up to 300 horsepower for diesel and 360 hp for gasoline motors. These will most likely be available with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

High-performance models will follow in the coming years and we expect to see an improved 4.0-liter V8 biturbo under the hood, similar to the one in the facelifted G500.

Fcuking brilliant!!! They took the old design and kept the best parts and made is wider, which will make it drive/handle/ride better. A new interior will go a long way towards making this thing more acceptable to a lot more buyers. It's wider and lower which will eliminate a lot of that top heavy feeling/handling demeanor. I can't wait to see this thing!!!

A small comparison of the recent and the new door panels. I couldn't find a pic with a similar angle like the spy pic.

This is going to be a sight to behold. What a legend this car is!!!!

The wider stance already looks good, and I truly can't wait to see the interior.

Wait, have I just read the old exterior is just temporal? If so I am glad they are going after a more forward looking exterior. The concept they showed a few years ago could be a noce base.

Tough thing to do replacing this car. So many years looking the same.

The only thing temporary on those prototype are the camo, the body is production ready and it will looks like the current generation.
