I think it’s a promotion to stimulate slower than expected sales. Mercedes should do more, like drop the price by 15%.
Taycan as an EV is in a parallel world and incomparable to its peers. Although a fabulous EV, sales are also driven by dealers requiring prospective 911 and 718 customers to buy them. This is underscored by the relatively poor resale value of the Taycan.

The biggest revision these cars need is to their styling. They need a major facelift, especially the grill and headlight design needs to be more in line with ICE models. Add more chrome trim to the grills and change the light design then it could make a major difference.

Hyundai and Kia are really on a major high with their car designs. I love their EV cars and even the main stream ICE cars look great.
