EQS [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.

To think they had the winning card! (they had done it), I imagine how they will insult the person who in the meeting said let's make this other one better, because the clients will ask about the "aerodynamic penetration coefficient"

Or Mercedes can look forwards Lucid, Tesla, Huyndai and Kia. Their EVs don't look repulsive.

Hyundai and Kia are really on a major high with their car designs. I love their EV cars and even the main stream ICE cars look great.

Pretty sure everyone in the world including everyone in Mercedes wishes the EQS actually looked like that.
How they signed off on the actual EQS being a non-descript blob is baffling.

Primary goal was going electric, top aerodynamics and fitting in mainstream thinking like “wow, aren’t we technical advanced and modern with our new clean and sustainable (😂) BEV in stead of those old and dirty ICE of yesteryear“.
The biggest mistake was calling it the electric S class. Expectations were set which couldn’t be lived up to.

The product is wrong and the build and finish not up to par.
A neighbor has one and I drove it once, boring design, E-class quality overall but soft car handling though was a massive turn off for me and the breaks are terrible for the weight.

Maybe at the right selling price is acceptable, I'd say 20% less and not S-class price and name. Probably Mercedes was thinking, our customers have money to burn and will

Now there's Lucid in Europe and is better EV with more space and cheaper so Mercedes has to step up.

Thing is, that prototype had the same or better co-efficient of drag.
I guess they couldn't actually make that, but they should have tried to get close to it. What they ended up with was a big block of nothing

And you're right, they should not have had the audacity to call it the Electric S-class, because it just isn't

Discounts on leftover 2023 EQ’s are so extreme in some cases in the US that you can almost walk into a dealership and name your price if you can stomach the design.

A $20k or more discount can be negotiated with ease.
Mercedes obviously forgot a luxury product needs to be beautiful and well finished.

I’m starting to see them everyday now. The discounting must be doing something. I’ll have to check the dealer lot to see what they have now.

Except for the styling and the rear seating position most reviews and tests about the EQS have been very positive. Its more of a luxury EV than sports saloon EV. The good things are the electric range, ride comfort and low noise levels, interior tech, huge boot and hatch practicality. Its handling abilities are good but not athletic, rear steering makes it park like a smaller car. Bad things I have read is the rear seating position (too upright and the seat squab angle doesnt support the under side of the legs enough, the brake modulation is odd for the regen braking with the pedal moving down during regen braking, feels like a big car at times, the reflections and finger prints on the hyperscreen.

This is not the future that we were promised. As concepts and in movies, most egg-shaped EVs have flat floors and epic rear seat room.

The eqs delivers the unflattering shape but none of the interior benefits.

Has any one here had a ride in or driven an eqs?

I've driven an EQS53.

It's not an AMG by any means and it's not an S class either. It lacks the sublime waft of an S. Perhaps the none AMG variants are a bit different, but on initial launch Mercedes said they deliberately tuned the suspension to be firmer than an S. Perhaps because of the weight, or perhaps just to achieve a different drive experience.

The refinement was phenomenal, but the interior finish and build let it down. It's definitely not S class level.
