EQS [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. It was released in September 2021 in Germany and the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States.
Unbelievably, in a recent test between the EQS 53 and the i7, the EQS finally appeared, dare I say, a better overall design. The AMG touches helped, as did the White matte paint with black accents. And BMW, despite a great looking matte black, could not be helped from the grotesque cartoonish hyper-square looks.
You know what, I’m thinking the same. EQS exterior looks better and is more palatable as time goes by. Compared to an i7, EQS is the better EV anyway. The main gripe I have with the EQS is that terrible, cost cutting interior.

I am not surprised to see that ideas about the design of the EQS have changed in a positive way. I have been saying from the beginning that it is a much more refined car than the i7.

I almost forgot how ugly this car is. And the whole Eq-line.
G63/Sl ftw.. Everything else is a pos so far.

How does it sell?

This and the EQS look absolutely tragic in real life. I am glad noone is buying them here because I can forget about them for the most part.

But literally shocked when I do see one, like that EQE yesterday. Dear me.

Two years after release, I am still not able to accept the way this thing looks.

I have yet to see one on the road in Sydney, however I have seen about 3 to 4 EQS during my trip in HK.

The S class easily out numbers this 50 to 1.

Here it is at the MB HK showroom, next to the EQE.

It’s so ungainly on the road. It has all the Mercedes DNA applied to non Mercedes shape. It’s weird AF riding beside one on the road. Mercedes has to have better sense than to continue this nonsense. The next S will be an EV, hopefully looking like a normal Mercedes.

The following changes will be installed at Factory 56 in Sindelfingen from 1 July 2023:

Heat pump (new and standard): In winter application, this significantly increases the range. However, since the test was completed at 23 degrees, this has no effect on WLTP consumption.

Performance increase for EQS 450+ from 333 hp to 360 hp (0-100 km/h now 6.1 s instead of 6.2 s)

Power increase for EQS 580 4matic from 524 hp to 544 hp

5G transmission instead of LTE

Disconnect Unit for all models with 4matic (disconnects the front engine at low loads and increases range)

Distronic Plus is now standard equipment

EQS 53 AMG 4matic+ has 22 KW OBC as standard

It has new factory paints and new wood flooring.

Optional electric charging cover available

Extended Audio Experience to include the Serene Breeze theme

It looks like the EQS 450+ now has "only" about 752km* of range instead of 784km WLTP.

The reason for this is currently unknown.

Range gains through the Disconnect Unit (DCU) look like this:

EQS 450 4matic from 696 km to now 716 km*

EQS 500 4matic from 696km to 713km now*

EQS 580 4matic up to 692 km again up to 712 km*

EQS 53 AMG 4matic+ so far from 571 km to 573 km

* Configuration with 22 KW OBC and 19 inch AMG wheels as well as AMG Line.

Thus, the range is increased by about 20 km. With higher equipment (compared to its predecessor), the advantage is 17 km for the EQS 500 4matic and 20 km for the EQS 580 4matic.
