Sweet Jesus. That Tesla looks impossibly good for a design that's been around for this amount of time. It's almost Porsche-esque in its sport-luxury appearance. The EQS is a definite third in terms of design in this company.

not in my opinion
The Merc is the winner.
Its more sophisticated then both od those two combined
But yeah tastes difer

^^ out of curiosity what makes the EQS more sophisticated than the two?
It's a Mercedes Benz and has the experience and history behind building class leading and worlds best luxury cars. From first-drive reviews, this car is as quiet as the new S-class and even sportier to drive. Judging by what has been said of the new S-class I would bet my left ball this car will be on another level to drive compared to the other two,

No doubt it drives the best but a car that cost 150k euro must make you smile just looking at it, especially when its coming from Mercedes.

So all that experience and history manifested in them designing a blob with one of the most questionable A-pillar intersections ever seen in automotive design. And that's just one fundamental flaw. Ok.

Indeed, the A pillar is too buys, a clam-shell bonnet would've been much better looking imo.

22.4 kWh/100km at 116km/h. That's 482km/299 miles range. You could get more with lower average speed, but 478 miles only in their dreams. 300, maybe 350 mile range is not bad, but there are no miracles. Today's electric motors and inverters already operate at 95%+ efficiency and all the EVs are already very aerodynamic. There are gonna be only very marginal improvements in that area going forward. Battery energy density has also barely improved in the last 10 years and it's not gonna magically double over night. So to get an electric range of a car, simply look at the size/weight of the car and then at the size of the battery. That will get you 80-90% there.

This opinion will be unpopular but why Tesla did not change the Model S radically (read : change the headlights and taillights and call it a new generation or LCI) ?

Because they don't need to.

If you look it up you could find a blind test that blindfolded, people cannot tell the difference between riding a W221 or a W222 S-class. Point is, the generational "update" is part of the old ICE world where the German big three's sales are just going in cycles, surpass and being surpassed by one another (S-class vs 7 series vs A8, E vs 5 vs A6, C vs 3 vs A4).

Underneath, the new Model S is a new generation. But they just don't spend money to update the exterior because frankly, there is no need to. It has adequate and working headlights and taillights, why the need for new shapes and call it the next generation ? That's why people still love the E46 and still love driving it. Or Porsche 911 for the last 15 years. Again, blind test.

But people would know it's the new Model S when after being told the blind test is over, they open the blindfold and see no one is sitting in the driver's seat. And that the steering wheel is not even round.

History and experience mean nothing when you were given a clean sheet of paper to start and all you could come up with is a blob. Anyway, I hope your balls are insured.

How really is CW of 0.20 far fom 0.22? If we look at sheer numbers its nothing. But Id say engineers would have to give much sweat, blood and tears to shave 0.02 down.

Out of Sunny's usually valid criticisms I thought that one was ridiculous. Yes, the EQS 580 is less aerodynamic but the W223's CW was measured in the most basic model possible as well (as usual with MB).
But EQC has a much cleaner front look (sport version) than any EQS without fake vents. I don't get why that made the front so ugly

Maybe someone can do a PS job fitting the EQC sport bumper into this.

Just found some render.

I wouldn't call putting on the EQC's curly mustache front airdam an improvement.

You've nailed it Mick. And this is exactly what MB told us (in an interview a few months back) that their customer focus groups showed. There was a strong distinction between the typical S-class buyers and those who picked the EQS over the S.

Yep. At the end of the day I'm still quite surprised they went all in on this design, as the EQE won't be too far behind. Never before did I think it was going to the SUVs that would have the least controversial look, but I guess that does make sense.

But he used cruse control at 150 km/h and 4 °C. Eco-Mode should also add around 200 km range. I was really afarid that after the EQC Daimler could not develop an efficient EQS but it seems to be really good. Let's see what the first tests will show.

Speaking of Lucifer, I mean Lucid, despite being much smaller car (195" vs 205"), it seems to have as much if not more interior space.

That's one of Lucid's biggest speaking points (and rightfully so). Their homegrown componenets really unlocked maximum space efficiency.

The EQS is just as homegrown, but MB forgot they were making an electric car somewhere in the beginning of the design. ICE mentality is very strong with this one.

ICE mentality will be stronger with BMW.

BMW's strategy? EV cars with ICE proportions. Starting with i4, i7, then i3, i5 .... etc.

BMW will have same bodystyle/proportions with EV or ICE options. They decided not to fix what is not broken, it seems. This EQS vs S seems to only stress their point even more.

And it might work well for Munich.

That's not true at all Klier. Lucid Air is much closer to Tesla in this respect, which shouldn't be surprise given who is in charge.

Hmm. This EQS may make me buy Tesla.

No, not a Tesla car.

No, not TSLA stock, you silly.

I mean from Elon.
