EQS (V297) [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. Production: May 2021- Model years: 2022–
I kinda like the EQS. It's not a beauty queen but it is sleek and elegant and it's quite unlike anything else on the road. It points to the future for many cars and the new style direction for Mercedes. Its styling disguises the size of the car pretty well, it doesnt look like a 5.21m long car.

One thing it doesn't look great in 2 tone paint, but silver and dark metallics make it look attractive.

It looks terrible in all three pics. Sorry. Still it looks like a cheap Chinese ripoff of the concept.

The design is very polarizing, it may take us to the first gen A-Class and even CLS, yes I really mean the first CLS. Together as a completely new design for a particular purpose. The first A-Class design is gone, CLS is fading away, but it had a huge influence in entry level and high class brand positioning.

Yet the EQS, Mercedes just build the best EV on the market right now, as it translates well the S-Class to the BEV world. If they can build the best ICE, here they did the stance again, positioning the EQS from the start as a luxury reference for other carmakers.

How really is CW of 0.20 far fom 0.22? If we look at sheer numbers its nothing. But Id say engineers would have to give much sweat, blood and tears to shave 0.02 down.

Then why did they give back .01 with the 580. And probably some more with the AMG tack ons? The W223 got .22 with a real grill and real vents and normal wheels. Some effort on those would have probably netted them the difference. EQS looking like a pregnant Beluga was design choice, don't blame air.

I forget what the introduction order is, but the smart move would be to follow this up with the EQS SUV. A SUV with this interior is going to be a knockout and look more like a Mercedes-Benz.

as for me, the car will not be very popular due to the fact that many customers will choose the regular S-class, the competition from Audi or Porsche is very strong. it was possible to make a beautiful electric car - it was done.

Speaking of Lucifer, I mean Lucid, despite being much smaller car (195" vs 205"), it seems to have as much if not more interior space.

it could be
also the V223 has more space
but Daimler said, that the EQS is more a driver-car and not a chauffeur-car.
If the customer want to be chauffeured, the customer will go for an V223 2-seater in the rear or even a Maybach.
I mean also in the EQS you will drive nice in the rear with massages seats and fond-entertainment, but:
- less head space (max for a person 1,95 tall)
- no option for a 2-seat configuration
- no “chauffeur” function for the back seat
- no minibar (obviously)

I rarely post on here but this feels like an occasion that cannot be ignored. I think this car will be a big hit. It will appeal to would-be Tesla buyers who wouldn't necessarily be interested in a traditional S Class. Some of the details, for me, are a bit lazy. The bumpers are quite funny looking and presumably unnecessary. Hopefully they will disappear on the facelift. A clean bumper like the concept would make it look even more futuristic. I also dislike the way the front LED light strips are disconnected. It would look great if they could blend the headlights and the 'grille' as one unit for continuity. Overall it has the same spirit as the third generation A6 which is a very attractive car, in my opinion.

Indeed, the EQS features a massive footprint that does not necessarily equate to exemplary space efficiency. Lucid, for example, shows that less can be far more.

The EQS may be that treasure chest of goodies that will unconditionally swoon bonafide "techies", but will it unconditionally swoon people who simply love automobiles in terms of the way they look, connect with the road and provide an engaging driving experience ?

The more video footage you watch, the better and better this car looks.

The sheer size and drama of the bow may look like quite something in the metal.

The Lucid is fake, the Tesla is sort of fake, because there's no sign of the Plaid Plus coming any time soon and sales of the Model S are tumbling down, because it's ridiculously outdated now.

I agree that Audi e-tron GT looks better.
The Merc is a better package, for me.
