EQS (V297) [Official] Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS (V297) is a battery electric full-size luxury liftback car produced by Mercedes-Benz Group and part of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family. Production: May 2021- Model years: 2022–
This was expected. Not so bad, but the bar has been set fairly low. Rear 3/4 is the best view. Interior with the hype-screen (not a typo) looks good...now, though it's inevitable it'll look dated fairly soon. I am sure two-tone was introduced in order to trick the eye and "diminish" the visual volume. Overall, not bad but doesn't send a jolt to my e-motor.... and perhaps that's the point: look progressive enough without looking to radical so as not to upset too many of the squares. *shoulder shrug*

You have all the freedom in the world, new model, new platform, new drive tech, no need for a big grill, no big radiators... and what do you come up with --- this fugly face with a fake grill and 2 fake vents! Shame.
People have to be able to recognize it as Mercedes.

OMFG is all I have to say. Apart from the A/B class kind of cars which are not even real Benzes, this has got to be the worst looking product they ever produced. Makes the R class look nice. The lower production version honest to God looks like a cheap Chinese clone.
I hate this car .. with that said i better not catch any bmw fans in here talking shit.

the most ugly part of this car looks better tha.n the whole XI I X whatever the f#ck that shit is called.

What's the name of that dual-tone paint job on the Edition One: Banana Split?
Actually it turned out fine in terms of design (not great, just fine) but they blew it with that introduction colour!

Nice new Colour looks great in this pic.

It actually looks much better than what I thought it was going to look like. Still not a big fan of the overall shape. I know that MB is a brand all about engineering, but honestly who cares about having a .20 drag coefficient in a 100k luxury sedan. It's cool, and probably helps range a lot, but having a more traditionally proportioned sedan as your flagship would make a lot more sense to me.

Also, is MB marketing this as a sedan, or a 4 door coupe? Because it's more "coupe" than a CLS is.

I like the car, the thing I don’t like is the specs in which they were presented.
This car looks really good with the AMG kit and 5 spoke 22” wheels, as oppose to the multispoke on the S class. The rear is gorgeous in light colors, and I really like the front with those fake vents.
I really don’t get people who a few months ago were complaining that EVs don’t look as traditional cars, yet when they use some design elements from traditional ICE models they hate on it, do me a favor, and just decide that you hate Mercedes, don’t try to find some stupid reason.

I can’t wait for the configurator to make some good specs, other than the ugly or soso ones presented today.

If you want to have some fun , check out Gorden's Instagram page.

By that , I mean check the comments on the photos with EQS....

I think it's disappointing. For all the design flexibility and packaging opportunities afforded by going electric, this EQS just doesn't seem to leverage them to any meaningful effect. The rear 3/4 is pleasing enough but the rest of it, it's just disappointing. I don't care much for the strangely wavy belt line but even that is tolerable compared with the ugly frontal DRG. It's borderline horrible.

Somehow, the non-AMG line manages a less offensive front end. The side aspect evokes strong MPV vibes and the whole thing ends up with the persona of a mid nineties people mover concept.

I suppose then that this is the new bar...

... of soap.

One thing I think MB should have put on this car is Camera Rear mirrors with all the other tech they have which some is brilliant surprising they didn’t offer this ?? Maybe they feel it’s not safe enough yet ?

So no 2 seat configuration in the rear. You'll need to get the S-class for that.

Is this a packaging constraint issue or will they bring this later on? If they don't offer it they have left open what is a typical Mercedes USP for the BMW i7 and Audi Landjet to take advantage of.

Still believing he is the designer Mercedes needs? ;-)
Did I said that?

You wrote that is the most over-rated. I told you that he had a major benefit for MB sales in the last decade and more.

Am I a fan of his latest cars? Of course not. But I and you and others don't matter right now.

And we all look at MB as fans. But MB is looking for sales. And now China is top dog.

This car , W223 , and others , are directly targeted to ASIA/China...

Just look at Maybach...They showed it in RED.

I have never seen a ultra luxury car in red , in Europe , in all my years of travel...

By the end of the year , we will see if Gorden is relevant or not...

I still suffer to find how they calculated this 770 km WLTP range. It's not achievable with the given WLTP consimption and the capacity of the battery (107,8 kWh).
