E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
I’ve driven a W211 320 CDI back in 2005 (bought new and changed it for a new W221 only 9 months later; those were my crazy days...). Avant-garde spec. Loved the interior but had problems with the rear lights. They looked exactly the same as the rear lights of a Chrysler Voyager (only upside down). Never got used to that.

I know a few members have asked for it, for now just a photo comparison between the E class and C class interior.

Just a quick update of the car.

I haven't driven the car much, but my initial impression is that it feels like an E class to drive and to ride in. The handing is sharp for a car this size and the performance is effortlessly fast. The ride is very comfortable however it can feel a little floaty at times due to the air suspension. Having said that it does feel a class above the C class, especially with the twin turbo V6 engine.

IMO the side profile and the rear 3/4 view is one of the best angle of the car. You can really appreciate how smooth the C pillar is and how it flows seamlessly to the tail.

I do love the proportions of the E. The styling, while understated, will age very well, especially on such a classic spec. I have feeling I won't have that sentiment about the upcoming facelift.

Nearly 3 months after taking delivery, the car has been driven for a total of 240 km, so my apologies for the lack of update. The car is superbly quiet and smooth, and because you are nearly completely isolated from most external noise and vibrations, you really don't realize how deceptively fast the car is.

The ride comfort of the air suspension continues to impress, especially with those huge 20'' wheels and run flat tires.

Fuel consumption is not bad at 15.8L/100km, it should improve after the car is run in properly.

Thanks @Monster , you actually encouraged me to give and update about my car.

I own the E400 now for 2 and a half years now, the car meter shows 68,500 km, I'm using the car on daily basis. I rarely use my other car.

So far, the car still feels solid in and out, I don't hear rattling sound any where. The front speaker on the dash noise is back, I can barely hear it but the car is super quiet and you hear every little sound. The only real problem I faced is my steering wheel, I noticed it was not moving smoothly and I reported it to the dealer during 60,000 maintenance, they said no issue. Now, the steering wheel moving mechanism seem to have a problem, it doesn't move up or down freely and I need to give it pressure to move, I will return it back to them once I reach 75,000 km for maintenance.

Other than that, I still love the car, the engine power is smooth and it accelerates effortlessly. The 9G proves its an excellent gear box. Comfort and quietness is still one of the best aspects I love about driving my E400. I had 0 tire troubles after increasing the tires profile by 5.

Does the ride feel better as the car is being run-in?

Maybe later, but right now, I still feel like it cannot quite absorb the short sharp bumps as well as the W211.

Having driven the W213 and the W211 back to back over the weekend, I am surprised by how similar both cars felt, and based on driving and riding impression alone, I don't think you can tell there is a 14 year gap between the two. They are both supremely comfortable, smooth, and stable to drive. The W213 is of course noticeably more quiet inside, road noise is well suppressed, and the suspension is almost silent.

I will continue with more tomorrow.

I just love this generation E-Class. The E53 sounds perfect for a daily driver. The coupe and convertible models are just icing on the cake.

Put on a set of 17" rims and it most certainly will. The disadvantage of these 19" and 20" wheels is that they leave very little sidewall for the tire to absorb.

I had a nice long drive today, the car has done 400 km so far, still plenty of km and months to go before it is fully run in.

The one thing I have noticed so far is that it is a bit tricky to modulate the speed of the car when reversing, there seems to be a slight lag/delay.

That doesn't sound good if you need to precision park. However, you probably quickly learn to accept is and drive accordingly.

Hi guys

I am soon getting my new E300de estate obisidian black with AMG styling.
I want to switch the "grey" part of the grill to black, as is delivered with night package.

Is it easy to pull out the old one and fit the new one?
Do one have to take off the entire front bumper?
how long does this job take? Can i do it myself, or do i have to have it done by dealer?

Thanks in advance :)

Update: C63 order has been cancelled, I tried to get on the E63 list and ended up with higher price tag + dealer doesn't want to make a special request for a car without sunroof or panoramic roof (which was the case with the C63 too).

Checked out 2020 Lexus RC F, mean looking car + pricey too, but the options I requested for were not on their list or the available stock that they were trying to sell me, which was another letdown (n)

Today, I closed the deal on a 2020 E450 4Matic *Hardtop* (Special Order) with a 4.5 months delivery time, could be delivered earlier, but that's all I know for now.

Exterior: designo Diamond White
Interior: Black / AMG-Line + Black Ash Wood Trim (identical to Monster's car)

Am I getting old ? :oldman:

Congratulations my friend ! It is certainly an unexpected choice. Did you consider the E 53 at all? Also what is your driving impression of the E 450?

The E 53 doesn't turn me on as much as the E 63, and the extra charge they're asking for is not worth it (520 Nm vs 500 Nm), E 450 is more than enough for a daily commute, which also allows me to fly under the radar with tons of power.

I didn't bother to ask for a test drive, but I have spent quite some time in a rental C200 and was very impressed with how easy it was to maneuver and park in tight spaces. The E class is even more spacious (Front + Rear) and a 12.3" infotainment display which is truly remarkable.

Congratulations on your choice for a fine Mercedes-Benz.
What exactly do you mean with “hardtop”?
