Just a quick impression on the car so far. The wooden center console trim is a must, even if it took MB 2-3 years to sort it out. The gloss plastic trim really has no place in an E class.

The new steering wheel design does look high tech , but the large pieces of painted silver trim feels a little flimsy. And even with the touch pad to provide easier access and control, there ares till to many buttons on the steering wheel. I much prefer to activate the semi auto driving function with the stalk than using the buttons on the steering wheel.

That wooden console....big difference maker for the better. Silver on black on a Benz sedan is just timeless. Congrats to you and your fam!

Zetsche, Putin launch E-class plant in Russia

Mercedes-Benz on Wednesday opened an assembly plant in Russia, where it will build E-class sedans for the local market. Located in the Moscow region, the automaker invested over 250 million euros ($280 million) for the plant, which will employ over 1,000 people. SUV production will follow after the E-class, Mercedes said. Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche and Russian President Vladimir Putin were on hand for the grand opening on Wednesday. Yes the w213 fl will only be available this time next year.

Hehe.
Although I will never have the economy to drive a E63, but still, an electric car will never be able to overcome the roar of a proper E63 engine sound when accelerating.

I just hope Mercedes build in 63 AMG engine sound in all their electric cars.

It is pretty loaded. The spec sheet I signed was 3 A4 pages long.

Test drove a E300de today with almost no battery, so drove in E-Save mode. Drove 30km. Normally the W205 and the Passat GTE I have leased earlier did this in 0,8-0,9. This car in e save mode - drove 20km on diesel, 0,57 liters per 10km, and it drove 10km on electrical power. Pretty impressive.


The dealer already had a car on order, and we changed it to my specs. It is supposed to be locked and produced in May, and delivered in June.

The W211's grille looks laughably small, but I do love the details of the louvers and how well integrated it is.

Indeed, there is something about the classic grill on the W213 that doesn't sit quite well. I will try to do a photo comparison with both cars soon.

The W213 is notably larger than the W211, which looks so compact in comparison. Its definitely one of my favorite looking E class models, its styling is timeless and even in real life it looks smaller than it really is. The interior build quality is excellent. About 2 weeks ago I was taken in a 2007 W211 E200 Kompressor taxi to Bahrain and I was truly impressed by how smooth and comfortable the car was despite its age its smoother and has a better ride than many newer medium sized cars I have been in such as the new Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata and maybe only the Genesis I would say matched the E class or was very close.
