Would love to hear thoughts on whether to order this car with the classic Mercedes grille/hood ornament or the sport version?

It saddens me to see only the S Class retains the classic star, and most MBs now have the sport grille. However, when I brought up the idea to my significant other she said the classic/luxury/exclusive trim looked like an old person's car. I'm in my late 20s fyi.

Finally saw the E class in exclusive line with the traditional grill out on the road. It looks like a proper luxurious Mercedes sedan.
In China,The cars with traditional grill sell more than the sport grill now, maybe many prefer it just because in this generation it looks like an S class.

I think in the UK, and certainly in Australia, dealer are saying 80 to 85% of the cars they order has the sports grill, and we can't even order the C class with the traditional grill at all.

In UK we don't even get the traditional grill as far as I am aware.

Now that's a proper Benz interior.

It's a huge shame that the instrument cluster will look horribly aged in a couple years time.

That's because the traditional grill isn't available with the AMG kit. The take up rate globally would be far higher if it was.

Exactly, it looks like an S with the trad grille. To me, the E has been the "don't need the bigger size" of the S, which is a luxury car.

I like the traditional grill, but it is an older person's looking car. C Class with traditional grill in US has been discontinued for 2018

South Koreans are the world’s biggest buyers of Mercedes-Benz’s E-Class sedans after the Chinese, according to Maeil Business Newspaper study on data from automobile news and importers.

Mercedes-Benz’s flagship sedan E-Class sold 17,434 units in China, 6,941 in Korea, 6,732 in the U.S. and 2,819 in Germany, during the first two months this year. It is the first time Korean sales outperformed the world’s biggest luxury car market of the U.S.

Sales in Korea outpaced the performance in the home turf of Germany by 4,122, up 62 percent from the same period in 2016.

Korean demand for imported mid-luxury brands including E Class and 5 Series have been on a steady rise. Last year, sales of mid-luxury sedan models in Korea grew 4.8 percent on year to 95,122 units last year, while sales of domestic models in the similar category dropped 2.3 percent during the same period.

That instrument panel is actually worse than blank buttons of previous generations.

I think I'd prefer a fully equipped Passat or moderately equipped S90 for the same price point.

MB should give the middle large screen as standard. The small one looks terrible. I mean the screen itself is fine but the design around the screen is just unacceptable.

^ the problem is that big rectangular piece of plastic. Stuck with the two large screens it looks great. Stuck with the analogue dials and the smaller screen, it doesn't look at all: too much glossy, black plastic. I could live with the analogue dials part, but not with the small screen/abundance of plastic part.

Perhaps the standard configuration will be changed (upgraded) for the facelift.
