E-Class (W213) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The W213 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the fifth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, sold from 2016 as a 2017 model. It succeeded the W212/S212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. The high-performance Mercedes-AMG E63 and E63S versions of the W213 have been available as well from 2016 (as a 2017 model), and these are the only versions with V8 engines.
From what I understand all big German brands are against the big Silicon Valley companies as they want to control their own future, and not become dependent of the tech companies.

That's the reason why BMW, MB and Audi together bought that mapping company (from Nokia/Microsoft?)

Either way, proprietary individual software is better anyways. Car Play has nothing on these latest interfaces I've seen on CES.

They bought it from Nokia for 3 billion dollars. Microsoft only bought the mobile phone division for over 7 billion dollars. Although no where near a big as before, Nokia as a company is far from dead.

^ So if that's where the phonebox is, where do the cup holders go? That's a pretty poor oversight.

Good question.
Given how cleaver the E is, you should be able to push the phone cradle forward while it is charging
to access the cup holders. MB knows how important cup holders are to the US.

If there are no cup holders in the new E thats going to be a problem.

What's mirror link?
Please tell me I can cast videos from my phone while parked?
It would be really nice while waiting for a parking spot to mirror a YouTube/Netflix video onto the COMAND screen

¨^still one can provide carplay, without signing over your fate to apple
You have to wait for the facelift :D seriously though, shouldn't be to hard to fix with a software update or something for a carcompany to add if needed.

I don't even know what that shit is. What's so good about it and why is it needed?

^for you in swedish..its pretty neat

http://www.apple.com/se/ios/carplay/

says that the BMW group has it,, i wonder why their latest and greatest lacks it

I'm quite sure that this is smaragd green, because if you take an C217 for comparison, there is the same color, and the fact that anthrazite is blueish, but you can clearly see a strong green in the mirrors..
it cooould be magnetit , but magnetit isnt so greenish when the sun is shining directly, but more greyish then...

It's still seems more blue than green to me. Anthracite is one of those strange colors that changes with the light. Not sure. Plus, the mirror is not within the camera's focus.

It's definitely not Magnetite, though! Magnetite is a warm charcoal color in the light.

I'm sure we'll know a full color list shortly.

Everyone wants to be able to charge their smartphone wirelessly, as this eliminates the burden of looking for a plug and also the irritating cables. Mercedes-Benz will make this technology already available today for its customers of the new E-Class, in which it additionally enables capacitive aerial coupling. By simply placing the device on the charging area on the front part of the centre console, the smartphone connects to the multimedia system via Near Field Communication (NFC). The inductive charging area (153×90 mm) is suitable for all mobile devices, which support the Qi standard. There is another advantage: while using Near Field Communication, the customer’s smartphone becomes the digital vehicle key with which the car can be locked and unlocked as well as started. The new E-Class also supports Apple’s in-car infotainment system CarPlay®, as well Google’s smartphone-based infotainment system Android Auto™.

the ui looks nice and the idea with the 2 touchpad controllers on the wheel is smart - but it remembers me of the first idrive steps of bmw, where had to go through several menus to reach your destination or where you make some clicks until you reach the desired option...

just check how long he needs through navi, maps, zoom, and the finally desired scale...

no doubt its the first steps and improvement will follow...as it will be with the gesture control of bmw

E-Class dual display (12.3 inches resolution 1920 x 720 pixels each) HD
S-Class dual display (12.3 inches resolution 831 x 600 pixels each)

That's quite an improvement. Are they really going to wait until the facelift before giving it to the S?

Are they really going to wait until the facelift before giving it to the S?

I'm afraid so. I've been holding out on the S until they introduced a significant infotainment upgrade. I believe the S Facelift is due September at Paris and the AMG facelift at the LA auto show, if I'm not mistaken.

With regard to the question: "Will it stand the test of time ?"...

I suspect far better than the W205 C-Class or the W222 S-Class. In my opinion, the by far most cohesively penned current M-B sedan. And, along with the C217 S-Class coupe/cabriolet, the most attractive M-B. Period.

I eagerly await the CLS successor as well as the W213-based E-Class coupe/cabriolet.

I just can't stand this waiting anymore. Goodness. The live pics and press release need to happen NOW. I can't wait to get to Detroit next weekend so I can see the damn thing in person. Geez.
