Looking back on the Autobild renders, it seems the headlights were the most difficult to figure out this time around.

Anyone remember these early sketches of the W213 E-Class by Hussin Design?
It appears some of these ideas made it to production. Note the classic Cab-Back theme
and bow in the C-pillar. (y)

Interesting MB cites the 12.3 inch screen as a segment first. That's the exact same size as the Lexus GS's screen.

Further MB Passion impressions from NAIAS 2016. :)

Am I guessing right that those 4 suited men sitting in the E-class in the last pic are not working at Mercedes but are rival companies executives?
This could be something they saying " Peter meine beste vrau is under das web German grosse vrau, das tv in der E-class ist goed baie goed!"

They're Volkswagen guys, including the Chairman.

MB probably means 12.3 inch screen in Full HD resolution?

Yes perhaps that's it.

The launch of a new E-Class is always very emotional, this is no different..this is clearly one of the most exciting new models technically wise of the new era, I mean;
0.23cd drag,
This 0.23 cd is just a coefficient, it doesn't mean much unless you multiply it by the frontal area of the car, also the 0.23 cd number is probably taken from the most basic or some econ model. It is still a very impressive number, but it doesn't give us the whole information.

I wonder how comfortable is the new design seats, seems like the shoulder area is slightly narrow. But the design is definately beautiful.

The car is looking better and better with each new photograph, even in red which looked horrible in the earliest photographs bearing sports grille but the car still not exciting me as a wholehearted MB fan. The interior is also very nice which was never in question. The new interior layout of S and now the E are way ahead than many rivals. It is both classy and futuristic at the same time however the plastic center console is unworthy of the E and I don't think that it will be up-gradable otherwise MB would have shown it to the press and public on launch in one of the higher specs version. Exterior wise, the S is greater than E, and the E is greater than C to my eyes and the Maybach S version is the best one with this design language. My only concern is that creativity is completely lacking with this new E. The front is the same as any other current Mercedes sedan and coupes and the rear is reminding of the old C class but on the whole it looks good though. However the rivals (current BMW 5) rear end appears to be sharper and better designed IMO. Heck I will take the risk of saying on a German car forum that I even like the new Lincoln continental rear end better.

I wish the guys at MB would have given us the car posted above. Those designs look so much more dynamic for the 21st century E class.

Those wheels on the hybrid are just hilarious. They look like something off a tricycle or a kids big wheels.

M

No question, the car is gorgeous.

But, can not used that middle console.

Need to see it, touch it, but in the pics it seems too shinny and cheap.

Now I think the wood is a must, something like these:

^ If it doesn't creak when you press on it and feels solid to the touch I'll be a bit happier.

I'm more concerned about the whole cupholder/phone box situation! LOL. I simply can't understand how MB expects customers to give up their cupholders to have wireless phone charging.

People these days have their hands glued onto their phone, it is more important than eating or drinking, having a empty phone battery is like the end of the world to them. We are living in strange times my friend.

You really think people are going to be happy choosing between cupholders and wireless charging? Watch the E-class get hammered by JD Powers etc. over this issue.

The W211 was slammed in the US for it's small cupholders. The Germans then came up with this ridiculous complex and problematic pop out solution. Times have moved on and now it's absolutely mandatory for a vehicle to have cupholders in the console and bottle holders in the doors.

I hope I'm mistaken and @Wolfgang sheds some light on this issue.
