Cornering Kingpin
^^ Hardly.
Well I think he meant the present - future. Benz put out some excellent boxes back then, but now.....even thing should have curves. It's the new face of "Aggressive" Styling.

BTW I quite like the wheel arch of the W212, I find it really well integrated and it makes the rear lighter, more athletic.
I love the C126, it's a wet dream of mine. An absolute masterpiece. Gorgeous car, just like the W126.
Sacco's most beautiful creations.
The W126 and C126 are the most beautiful of all recent Merc for me.
Mind-blowing cars, I'm just totally taken everytime I see one (in good shape and not riced out).

If you think it looks boxy in pics, and are not a fan of how overly angular it indeed is (not sure if you've seen it in person yet), then when you see one in person (especially without the AMG pack), especially next to a 211, it'll be pretty hard to swallow, at least that was my experience when seeing it. I was pretty dismayed all in all. The only acceptable way IMO it'll look is with the AMG pack, as it plays off of the cars aggressive lines, it does look good in its own way, but I still don't find it, even in that outfit, as nice as I'd hoped it would be, nor do I think it'll age too well (too jarring).
It all depends on your opinion. If you like less angular cars, then you like the old E better. If you like the way MB is going with their cars, then you probably love the new E. If you've only recently liked what the brand has been putting out (say, last 7 years), then you probabbly dont like the E. However, if you've followed the brand for a very long time, you will understand that MB is just trying to return to the "built like a tank" quality of the 80s. I've seen the E sedan in person and I have to say that many of the angular lines that stick out so well in press pictures are integrated very nicely, and you don't notice the hump over the back wheels that much.Like I said, it all depends on your taste and outlook.

I think Mercedes is going back to the roots in term of styling. No, maybe not roots but 20 years back in time. I feel the W212 have very much in common with the W124 and not least the Ponton models W120/121.
