E-Class (W212/C207/A207) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W212)

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. It is the successor to the W211 E-Class. Body styles: four-door sedan/saloon (W212) and five-door estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: March 2009 – January 2016 (sedan), December 2009 – May 2016 (station wagon).
I was hoping the cls will have a differnt interior from the e class yes i was expecting few basics to be simalar but this above pic it seems almost the same with just different angles used. The rear and side looks awesome if it turned out like that but i dont think it will be as the above it maybe very simalar but it will have softer lines and finish in my view..

That isn't the CLS interior neccessarily. Those are design sketches for the E class...

I saw the new E-Class today, as I was going to work in the morning. They were unloading the car from a truck outside the local MB dealer at around 8.30am. I immidiatelly recognised it from the rear lights. So i stopped for a momment and asked to take a look at the car. The car was full with plastics all around the interior, so i couldn't sit in it, but i will visit the dealership soon, to see the car both inside out.

Anyway, I must say the I am impressed by this car. The front is great and the side looks are fantastic. I am not so impressed by the rear design, but they do not (in any way) scream Huyndai as some members here say! Overall the car is very nice, and of typical MB design!

Congrats to MB!

:t-cheers:

Found these...apparently these were one of the options on the drawing board for the New E..looks alot like the CLS...may give insight on that to expect for the new CLS design.

Good eye. The tail lights heavily resemble those on Huckfeldt's impression of the new CLS. Nice tease by MB there.

I could quickly see the new E-Class, and briefly sat in it.

The design is very nice, it's a superb vehicle. Doesn't look heavy as in pics, looks much longer and lower IRL. It looks noticeably lower than the 211, much more like an old-school MB. Rear wing looks nice.

The front is not as "in your face" as in pics, and the lights are way more than just squared as they really unite the side wing and front. They look "deep" and the shape of the outter unit changes completely depending from the angle you're looking at it. It seems to stretch and becomes wider and higher the more you are moving to the side of the car.

The rear is also totally different from the upright sturdy look it has in pics. I will develop it more, since it's the main difference from pics to IRL:

This rear is in fact very 3D-sculpted: it's sporty actually, and I love it. The lights have small "wings" in them who breaks the light reflection and make them appear less "one big piece" while the LEDs inside look very good. The whole rear of the car is noticeably inclined (giving it a dynamic stance) and also has an arrow-shape with a strong divising line in the middle. Nothing like the heavy, slightly Japanese look it has in pics, it's much more complex and detailled IRL.

So overall, the exterior is fantastic. Doesn't look over-designed, as every elements is flowing with the others and everything makes sense. But it's a very refined, very detailled, almost artistic design in a sense.

No great fan of the LEDs DRL though, but you don't really notice them.

The interior now: was a black-alu AVG interior with leather and COMAND. The design is very cool, I love every bit of it. Ergonomics are perfect, seats extremely comfortable. Roomy car, too, although i didn't sit in the back.

The plastic of the upper part of the dash is good-looking: you don't really notice it.
However, on the lower part, it is the same plastic as in the 204 C-Class: quite hard, too shiny. Looks extremely solid, but not refined enough. That is a bit disappointing.
It's however not a real problem, because there isn't much of this plastic, unlike the 204. I awaited a bit more, especially given the general complaints on that area for the C-Class.
The alu of the dash felt a bit too much like plastic (unlike the 204 or 164 for instance who have a real alu-layer), surely because of the design effect on it. Conventional alu, or wood, will cure that.

I also would've wished some fabric or a better plastic on the folding mirrors of the sun-reflectors (I don't know the specific word but you see what I mean). No time to study the interior, however.

The buttons of the A/C are super-nice, but not metal-coated unlike the 221 S-Class. They may feel a slight little bit too light to operate.

No time to study it further, but I loved it. All in all, i love that interior, but the finish/materials are not better than the W211 E-Class.

In fact, it undoubtedly feels more MB-like, more solid, better put together, more "made-to-last", whereas the 211 gave a more refined impression. That, from the materials as from the design. Reassuring, clean, strong.

The 211 was warmer, but also felt hollow on some places and didn't give that "MB-sturdiness" I love so much.

This car is a winner in my eyes. A true Mercedes-Benz, just like the 204.

Some will however miss the delicate, feminine touch of the 211.

My dealer had a black E250 parked outside. It looks good but its nothing spectacular like some members make it sound like ;) . Not something I would spend my money on.

It's supposed to look conservative because the majority of E-Class customers prefer it this way.

If you want something more flashy you pep your E-Class up with a sport package, AMG, head-turning color (from Designo maybe) or nicer rims. ;)

And the price for a extra equipped E250 CDI is insane.
This black E250 almost cost as much as a standard C63.

The guy is a troll.

Nobody registers on a forum and immediately posts a childish statement like that. He could say he prefers BMWs over Mercedes' and nobody would have a problem with that.

But coming in here and posting ^that^ tells the whole story. The guy is a troll.

I could have deleted the post by now but I want to keep it here because I've already reported it and I want the other moderators to have a look at it. :usa7uh:

Designo W212 Sedan?

Agree - I have not found anything regarding Designo for the W212 sedan as yet? I did note that the first E Class Coupe will have a special edition, Prime Edition with 2 tone Designo interior and wondering if similar will be available for the sedan? Me I will add the AMG pack however can’t wait to see full details in English. That is the brochure etc. However as I am in OZ first information will be in July.

Breaking news..........

I stopped by my Mercedes dealer earlier today and was told that the E-Class has been delayed for the U.S. market by 1 year. At best he said that they'll go for next Feb because of quality problems encountered with cars already at the port.

That is disturbing news. After all the bad press around the w211 lets hope history is not repeating itself. If that is the case I will stay with my C320 AMG pack for a while and my a say even for the new 5 series? I hope your dealer is wrong!

Yeah, I also heard they've decided to add SBC to US-spec W212's. ;):D
