Surprisingly silent reaction to the announcement in the press release that the W212 E 63 AMG will have 525 hp. I was expecting more discussion. :dazed053:

Didn't notice!! Thanks bmer!! Well 525 hp – I hoped for more…but it will be impressive - definitely! :usa7uh:

The interior is simply perfect. I don't think I need to see it in real life to come to that conclusion. I've been staring at the interior photos for a long time looking at the attention to detail very closely and the visual build quality. Just awesome.

Given all that hostility on other car forums towards the new E-Class and its interior (and exterior), I sense that certain groups are feeling threatened by this new E-Class. :D

Can't wait until whoops the Lexus GS specifically in future comparisons. :eusa_danc

I'm still not diggin' anything except the front, just not appealing at all. I need to see this car irl badly, because from all pics seen, i don't like it. And i don't want it to be like that.:jpshakehe

525hp for E63? Nice! Not more needed anyway...;)

:t-cheers:

Interesting....looks like MB has finally dropped the horsepower race.

There's not to much to discuss as I ever since the start of 2007 told you guys that the E 63 will sport pretty much the same output as the W211 AMG. This has always been the case with the E-class. Each generation goes through AMG cars with two different outputs. Like I've said before the new engine won't come until the new SL has been presented, that will be the car to usher MB AMG cars into a new era of engines.

With the just released SLR SM ans SL65 BS? i don't think so;)

This IMO is just till the new M5 is out and then it'll get the TT V8 to out-power it just like what happened with current cars:D

Could be. BMW is after all the benchmark, so it's wise to wait and see what they do next ;)

Just wait for the facelift that will come the same time as the new SL, that will be in the range of just under 600hp. The Gullwing coming next year will be the first MB with V8 turbo.:usa7uh:

Im surprised that apart from a few negative posts this car has been welcomed very well at gcf:D

Over on Carspin people really hate it. :(

And what pisses me off is that so many people are calling the interior "cheap". :t-crazy2:

Look at these dumb comments...

plastic does look hard, maybe because it looks too shiny in the photo.

and Merc leather has always been that way. Very rough, and fake looking.

Yeah, we all know that Lexus interiors and Lexus leather are sooooooooooooooooooooo goood. :t-crazy2:

Maybe they were looking at a picture of their moms RX or GS interior, and that's where the word "CHEAP AS CRAP" subconsciously entered their mind. Then they look at the E-Class interior, get jealous as hell, and use that evil word.

Take a look at the new HS250h interior.

Is it me? Or does this gussied up Corolla cockpit scream CHEAP? :eek2:

Umm. I have just been to the Mercedes-Benz stand at Detroit and the new E-Klasse is not here , It was unveiled last night to coincide with the Press release , but the car is not on show at the Mercedes-Benz stand.
A spokesman said the car is not getting it's debut until Geneva in March.
The W211 is here is diesel blutec specification but no W212.

Tonight BMW have their own closed event where the Progressive Activity Sedan Concept takes centre stage.

I didn't say it was at the stand. I was saying that the car would be unveiled soon to which you said that since MB didn't show you guys anything at the meeting it won't be there at all. Just because the car isn't sitting on a stage in Detroit doesn't mean that it didn't just get unveiled. I merely stated that "the car looks ready to be unveiled soon", which you said wouldn't happen. Let's not get technical about what "being there means" but the fact remains that they didn't show anyone anything and then BAM, they just had a barrage of media stuff out to everyone.

Like I said Scott, strategy. :usa7uh:

What Scott27 just reported sounds like common industry practice.

When I went to Geneva I was burning to see the Audi R8 V12 TDI concept - only to find out that they showcased it to the press three days prior to the official opening of the Geneva Car Show, then drove the car back into a truck and brought it back to Ingolstadt.

Man was I pissed. :t-banghea

Well, you will get to see that car WAY before I ever will. As for Scott's reporting. I know. It's not like I called him out and said something bad. I just said that I was right about the car being ready in the other thread. Sometimes it's good to be right when there are Marketing gurus lurking through this website besides the ones who have shown themselves to us. No harm done. :D
