E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé (C238)

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. It succeeded the W212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models (C238/A238) share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. Production: February 2016–2023. Model years: 2017–2023.
According to the initial data from Mercedes-Benz, the M 264 engine will be available as a new 4-cylinder ottomotor in the displacement variants of 1.5 as well as 2.0 liters - as well as in performance variants from 95 to 225 kW. The engine has a Twinscroll exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric 48 V water pump. source E Coupé und Cabrio: Verkaufsfreigabe für E 350 mit EQ Boost Funktion - Mercedes-Benz Passion Blog / Mercedes Benz, smart, Maybach, AMG

I read that but I'm not very technically minded. I assume that means no e-turbo?

Same here. When I see one driving in black, I immediately start yawning. Black without AMG line package is even worse. The only colours it's acceptable in, are darkgreen and that new darkredburgundy. The C238 just got too soft, a bit too much "I want to please each and everyone", dare I even say 'lack of character'? My attention faded shortly after introduction.
Another thing. The cabrios Ive seen sofar, where all with ladies in there 40-ies sitting in it. Don't get me wrong, I adore ladies in there 40-ies, but is it a typical ladiescar already...? Not masculin enough perhaps.

It's a shame isn't it. The proportions are excellent and it has a much chunkier presences than the C-Coupe 4er or A5. While the rear is different from he E-Class sedan, the nose is a bit too conservative for a coupe.

It is. Not only the nose, combined with the rather dull frontbumper, is the problem. Imo the flanks as well. I do like a minimal design, but the flanks are just too bland, too sleek (in a non-positive way). I had the same thoughts about the flanks of the yet to come CLS, as I saw it back in 2014. A flank, consisting of a lot of sheetmetal, needs "something". I must say however, that the amount of sheetmetal in the flank of this C238 E coupe seems to be more of a problem, than it is with the CLS (2018).

The CLK and E-class coupe/vert have always been ladies' cars here. Also I differ from your styling take, I actually love this new design. It's definitely softer and more feminine but I find it looks quite expensive on the road.

I personally am anxious to see AMG 53 model. I think it's going to add some much needed aggression to the design. I find the AMG styling necessary to please my tastes for any Benz product these days.

I sense that I am having some difficulties accepting M-Bs' "Sensual Purity" theme. The C238 has become a case in point (for me). Generously configurated with elegant darker glossy metallic colors, I can find it quite stunning. But otherwise, it appears to me as being "excessively soft" and, in fact, rather ordinary. Lacking that special "edge". And while they appear to be popular here in their home market (and I reckon elsewhere as well), it is hard for me to recall a premium coupe/cab entry that has ceased registering on my personal "radar" as quickly as the C238 has.

Couldn't disagree with you guys more. I find the new E-coupe a fine return to the true elegance a Mercedes coupe at this price point should have. It's pure and timeless and the proportions on the road are beautiful. It looks very pretty even in standard guise IMO.

After seeing countless new E's on the road over the past two weeks in London, even in basic E220d guise, I have an even greater appreciation for Mercedes current design idiom and I believe these cars will age extremely gracefully.

My thoughts exactly. All that extra stuff: lines, creases looks terrible now on cars like the outgoing CLS and the pre FL W212 E-Class. This new look is a return to smooth, clean, fuss free design. The AMG version of the E Cabrio and Coupe is going to be the one if you want more drama, but still classy.

I just passed a E class coupe yesterday what a beautiful car I would swap my Sedan for one in a sec if I didn't loose money on my current E...I think it looks amazing so sporty yet classy just perfect E class..Looked perfect to me..

Yes. And even though the BMW 4 series coupe or the Audi A5 coupe are situated in a segment a notch below that of the C238, I personally find them far more interesting than M-Bs' E-Class coupe.

Well, that is probably because both the 4er and the new A5 are among each brand finest designs IMO.

I would not say the E-Coupe is among MB finest desing. By any means.

The sedan is a more hormonious design in my eyes, than the C238. There's just too much sheet metal on the side, rearpart, in the C- pillar area. Also the greenhouse is tad too long (to make it a real and practicle fourseater).

Yeah no doubt the Sedan is more practical that's why I got a E Sedan as my family complain about my previous coupe...Maybe I'll look at the next CLS ..Personelly I like the looks of the E coupe.

absolutely spot on. It truly emits Mercedes classic design. That is why you have different makes. What appeals to the BMW buyer doesn't always appeal to the MB buyer. Coupes are already a niche, so you should stick with what established your history in this area. I think of the E as almost jumping from the staid looks of the 124 and ignoring much of the quirkiness from the last couple of E-style coupes. Proud and powerful.

Leave the BMW to those young bucks who are desperate to win a dick measuring contest, and we'll stick with the one that says you've already confidently arrived.

I have the same problem with the rear sides, when I've first seen it in real life the rear wheels looked like they were 2 inches smaller. Besides that it'll be a cool car for my girlfriend, but we bought a piece of junk called RR Evoque.

The all "new" MB creasless design, hot & cool or whatever they name it is Porsche's secret sauce ;)

This old coot sees no hint of "massive shlong innuendo" when viewing examples such as these. I see athletic elegance and very sound design.

Emphasizing this point:

An example in a glossy medium anthracite /darker tan leather with the AMG-Package and matte-silver 20" multispoke rims was briefly parked outside of our flat this morning.

It was an absolutely beautiful car. The C238 is immensely configuration sensitive.

NHTSA documents discovered by AutoGuide.com reveal Mercedes is planning to offer a V8 in the E-Class coupe and cabriolet.

Currently, shoppers of two-door E-Classes have had to settle for Mercedes’ 329 hp 3.0-liter M276 bi-turbo V6 which is available in rear or all-wheel-drive configurations, but that’s about to change in 2018.

According to Daimler’s 2018 VIN decoder submitted to the NHTSA last month, Mercedes will begin offering both the E-Class coupe and cabriolet to North American shoppers with a version of the S550’s 449-hp 4.7-liter M278 bi-turbo V8.

Even though MB has said there will not be a E63 Coupe let's hope one will follow the M278
