Finally got mine ordered.

White, AMG kit, Saddle brown, Matte black wood, Air suspension, standard Burmester, package 3 [in US, this gathers all the whizbang electronics and other goodies into a single package], 19" AMG twin-spokes.

Looks like 100-120 days till delivery.

Agreed, I find it a bit absurd as to how MB just suddenly 'slip these new features from thin air', without making any noise about it lol, it's a bit of a trend nowadays..however the new pad looks super neat and better than the current one..

Are there any official word on when will the touch pad be available on the rest of the model range?

Not yet. The Touchpad premiered at the IAA with the GLC F-Cell and will be used in other models. However MB has not yet revealed on which ones, perhaps the upcoming CLS, or facelifted C, or maybe together with the new NTG 6 COMAND in the new A-Class compacts, or the AMG GT 4 door (X290)?

I like the look of the new touchpad. It resolves an ergonomic flaw of the current one where you can't see the buttons on the opposite side to where you are sitting as it's height obscures visibility.

I feel like the rotary dial is going to be missed though, so this touchpad better be as slick as a smartphone in it's operation.

I agree with you, I rarely use the touch pad since I feel that the rotary dial is more practical, if MB are going to stick with the touch pad alone they need to upgrade the sensitivity and the command system processor.

I also think the rotary controller was the most efficient form of UI..plus I would also miss the satisfying mechanical feel of the rotary which a touchpad cannot replicate..

THE NEW STANDARD INTERIOR LIGHT PACKAGE FOR THE E-CLASS COUPÉ

The new standard interior light package for the E-Class Coupé is intended to create a more comfortable light for the passengers, but also helps with orientation in the interior in the dark.

Many lighting functions of the interior light package for the E-Class Coupé have been implemented using LED technology. The lighting color is white. In addition, a signal and ambient light in the tailgate increases the safety due to the better visibility of the vehicle for other road users.

The components of the package are in detail:

• Glove compartment lighting as standard with incandescent lamp; with AIR-BALANCE package (P21) with LEDs
• illuminated storage compartment on the center console (equipment-dependent cupholder and ashtray illuminated)
• Illumination of the storage compartment under the center armrest
• 2 reading lights front, console front light
• Interior light in the roof operating unit
• Front footwell lighting
• Luggage compartment light
• Signal and ambient light in the cover

The package is available for every motorization incl. 4MATIC variants as of 2017/2, which can be ordered from 6 October 2017 (deliveries from the beginning of December 2017).

On another note, I have only seen the E Coupe four times and find it utterly gorgeous. It's the true successor to the W124 and the propionate are fantastic in person.

NEW M264 MOTORIZING WITH 225 +12 KW STARTING AS E 350 COUPÉ

MARKUS JORDAN 29. APRIL 2017

The new Mercedes-Benz M264 engine - as part of the new high-performance petrol engines with twin-scroll turbocharger from Mercedes-Benz - will be launched in autumn 2017 in the new E-Class Coupé. The 2-liter four-cylinder has a 48-volt electrical system as well as a starter generator - the pendulum belt tensioner - at the front. In the E 350, the Coupé will be offered with a maximum of 225 kW as well as an additional 12 kW electric drive and can be ordered from the beginning of October. First deliveries are made in December.

Boost function up to a maximum of 2,500 rpm The belt-driven starter generators (RSG) of the M 264 not only take over the hybrid functions, but also the comfort start for an almost imperceptible start and acceleration of the engine. The RSG can be additionally boosted up to a speed of up to 2,500 rpm, recuperation up to 12.5 kW is possible. Thanks to a shift in the load point, the operation is possible in a more favorable characteristic field. The belt-driven starter-generator also enables the motor to be booted.

M 264 petrol engine with 1.5 and 2.0 liters displacement According to the initial data from Mercedes-Benz, the M 264 engine will be available as a new 4-cylinder ottomotor in the displacement variants of 1.5 as well as 2.0 liters - as well as in performance variants from 95 to 225 kW. The engine has, inter alia, Via Camtronic on the intake side, as well as a Twinscroll exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric 48 V water pump.

We had already provided all details on the new generations of 4 and 6-cylinder in-line engines for Mercedes-Benz petrol and diesel vehicles already in October 2016 - here, among others. Mercedes Benz, the integrated starter-alternator (ISG) in the 6-cylinder as well as details of the modified 8 cylinder engine of the type M 176 with cylinder cut-off.

So I assume the inline 6 will be introduced shortly after? I can't imagine Mercedes selling the E 350 along with the E 400 when the smaller engine matches the 400 for combined power output.

I think they will do that. Keeping the v6 e400 with the in line 4 e350.
