E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé (C238)

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
I was just reading that, all that is left is to bring the sportier version to market because the E400 has the luxury side covered. I hate they aren't doing any V8 versions, but oh well. A 450hp E50 will have to do I guess. Wish they could get 500hp out of the I6. I bet the E400 will become the E450 with 365hp or so with a new I6 for 2019.

Even though the car is beautiful, I'm still not sold on that huge rear window and it would have been nice if there was a thin chrome strip above the rear lights for some extra exclusivity..

The glasshouse is worthy of a bit of discussion. Some may be critical of the DLO aft of the door - perhaps it's a bit elongated - but on the whole it appears to work well with the smooth, flowing lines of the car. I personally think it's nice in that it evokes the much-loved CLK with its pillarless side DLO.

another melted blob from Stuttgart. I miss the elegance of the 80s and 90s. All these new safety standards are ruining car designs. From what I read the only part of the car that the designers have free reign on is the rear. Everything else has to adhere to the law... yuk!!

Guys, am considering the E Class Coupe but unsure on the options. At the moment I am thinking I definitely want the following:
  • AMG Line Exterior
  • AMG Line Interior
  • P44 Parking Package (incl. Parking Pilot, 360 degree Camera)
  • P49 Mirror Package (incl. Folding & Auto-Dimming Mirrors)
  • P55 Night Package
  • 239 Distronic Cruise Control
  • 531 Comand Online
  • 464 Widescreen Cockpit
  • 736 Open Pore Black Ash Trim
  • Magic Vision
In addition, I am considering the following but in my country they are quite expensive options, so I am not sure if they are worth it or if I can get away with not speccing them:
  • RVQ AMG 20" wheels (as opposed to sticking with the standard AMG Line 19" wheels)
  • Keyless Go Package
  • Drive Pilot autonomous driving
Would save quite a bit not having the above but would I regret it? Any experiences on the Drive Pilot? Will there still be keyless engine start (via button) if you don't spec the Keyless Go Package or do you actually have to stick a key into the ignition and twist it to start the car like in the 1980's?

Hi Antti

I have a E sedan and all new E classes come with standard start with a button no need to insert a key to start the car it can stay in your pocket in the standard form but you require to unlock the car or lock with the key..

The rims I think 20 inch will give you a firmer or harder ride.

Ok have no experience on the drive pilot..

Good luck and post pictures when you get your car..

Antti,
To your wheel question--I won't do 20" wheels again. This is not a sports car, but a grand tourer. A wide, low sidewall tire is for your 911 or other more serious, even boy-racer set up. Too easily curbed, too.
19" or even 18" with a beefy, capable tire is where this car belongs. I just came out of a 6 series coupe and have been cured of 20" wheels for US public highway [ca-chunk] driving.

I have decided that while I love this car, I need more aggression in the design before I sign the dotted line. Looking forward to the AMG model (yes, I know no E63 Coupe).

From my resauces E63 Coupe is due next year

There is no way E63 Coupe will come to production. There are no spy shots of E50 Coupe (53 or 55) with new 3.0l inline 6 so who knows when E63 will come out if it ever comes out...

It's an absolute stunner and who cares if it's not "sporty", it's a gorgeous luxury car with a striking cockpit. Anyone who wants a sporty car would know where else to look. Not every car needs to drive like a BMW 3-Series.

Precisely.
