E-Class (W212/C207/A207) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe (C207)

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W212), estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: 2009–2016. Predecessor: W211 E-Class. Successor: W213 E-Class.
I think I definitely don't like the C207.

The rounded shape is bugging me, the rear wing is too heavy, the rear is too roundish, the front looks stunned. And the third window is ugly.

Interior's quite nice though.:D

The W212 is definitely much better in every aspect.

AMG seems to be really more focussed now. They don't make an AMG out of every single MB any more. First the R, then the GL, now the CLK (surprising but well, after all AMG has always been more of a power-saloon specialist)...

It surprises me toe see the car's based on the E. The interior clearly shows the car's width is the same as the 204, so...As 221 and 204 are sqharing a big deal more than before, I guess it just has of both but it's marketed as an E-derivative.

Frankly, the car is looking more and more like a big identity crisis. It's trying to be an E-Class but deep down inside it's a C-Class. By overpricing the E-Coupe, MB are missing out on the M3/RS5 enthusiasts.

I have to say that i'm really gonna miss this AMG version of the E-coupe..good thing the car looks stunning with AMG cladding:D

This is a false statement, there are no plans to succeed the CLK, but if you all will remember AMG's boss told the world of a Super Hammer, this will be in fact a model successor to the CLK 63 AMG. This model will be powered by a new engine from AMG this could be a version of the twin-turbo 5.0 liter V-8 or a diesel engine that AMG has started working on as we speak.

Just what I thought, this is just a silly american Mercedes commercial that could perfectly sell chinesse cookies.

Gotta love the interior. I came looking for any CLK news and-lo and behold-I see these pics.

“We had a good look where it would fit into the line-up and eventually came to the conclusion it would be too close to the CLS63 AMG, both in positioning and price,”

:t-banghea

Some of these guys at Mercedes are taking the inhouse designations way to seriously. The E-Class Coupe is a COUPE, the CLS 4-Door Coupe is a SEDAN. Ugh! :t-banghea

An AMG version of this car would have been so hot. Really. :(

I I finally saw and sat in the new E-coupé...terrible, terrible car. I absolutely hate the design inside out, what an extreme mess this car is! The regular E class is 10 times more pretty and well designed. The E-coupé is a completely different car, that tries to have the same looks as the E sedan.....big, big, big failure.

Not deep down inside. The car is a complete mess in real life. You instantly see it wants to be something it isn't...
What you say is 100% true, and imo it's even worse than that.
I thought the 3er and A5 would get some real competition, but I am not worried one tiny bit. The car is expensive, fat and ugly looking, and will not sell ONE more car than the CLK did. I'm positive there. The E's cool, the E-coupé's crap.

Okay, so how much did Scott and Eni pay you? lol jk!

Everyone has their own opinions, some will agree with you while some will disagree. I personally love the new coupe, hoping it could be my next car sometime in the future and im hoping it wont disappoint.

I still think calling this car the E-class is a mistake, and now MB created this unnecessary mess for themselves. There weren't such conflict of interest when the car was called the CLK.

No AMG is a bad think!! And you're right…I still call the E-Class Coupé "CLK"! In my opinion it is much more conclusive, also for people that are not into cars like people here at the forum… :usa7uh:

Man why?
i wanted to see BS version of this..and all that..
but i guess not..

That makes the coupe line of AMG abit thin..only CL left..
The SL and SLK are roadsters..

I think we're getting too far ahead here. Until the new E-Coupe has been on sale for a couple of years and there is no AMG model presented, I would take this news as being official or gospel. I can't see AMG not doing a version of this car, especially the upcoming Cabriolet.

As far as changing the designation I too think that was an uncessary move. It should have just stayed CLK and we wouldn't be having this discussion. Then again, this won't be a big deal depending on how they price it. If they continue in the same price range as the CLK then it won't matter, but if they try to price it able the sedan then they're going to run in to real trouble. Clearly the car isn't based on the E-Class, but the C-Class. Don't know why it couldn't just stay that way in the press material.

Kiler, a terrible car. Yeah right. Just say you don't like the design, there is nothing "terrible" about the car itself. It will carry itself as well as any other Mercedes-Benz on the road.

M

^I don`t believe klier ment the quality of the car. He is talking about the design.

I don`t think it looks that bad. I like the sedan far better though.
Anyhow this is new!! I can`t believe MB doesn`t want to do an AMG version. Why not cut the CLS form the AMG treatment since it`s larger and a little less sporty.

I also agree that MB should have kept the CLK nameplate.

Update on MBs view of C and E-Class platforms.

MotorTrend: May09 issue: The new suspension of the E-Class sedan
also improves component commonality with the C-Class. In fact, Mercedes engineers no longer talk of the C and E being separate platforms.

Ok, correct. I was expressing myself in fanboy mode. The car isn't that bad. I just don't think it's in the same league as the A5 and 3er. Those two have a very solid and strong design, whereas the E-coupé has all the E sedan design features, but completely different proportions. Makes it look really weird to me. As Luw said, a bit of an identity crisis.

If you like the design, I'm sure it won't disappoint. It seems to be a very good car, I just don't dig the design. And you obviously do (and that's great ;) )

Mercedes: 'No new CLK63 AMG'

Mercedes has decided not to replace its BMW M3 chasing CLK63 AMG.
In a move that hints at a consolidation of its broad model line-up, the German car maker says it does not plan producing an AMG version of the soon-to-be-launched E-class Coupe owing to problems with the new car’s positioning.
“We had a good look where it would fit into the line-up and eventually came to the conclusion it would be too close to the CLS63 AMG, both in positioning and price,” a Mercedes insider told Autocar at the New York motor show.
By switching from C-class underpinnings to E-class underpinnings, the E-class coupe has essentially jumped a class – a jump too far for Mercedes’s in-housing tuning offshoot, it would seem.
The decision not to push ahead with an AMG version of the new two door also means there will be no follow-up to the pared out CLK AMG Black Series.
However, Mercedes has confirmed a successor to the CLS63 AMG is in the works. Rumours abound it could be the first car to benefit from AMG’s new twin-turbocharged direct direct injection V8 engine planned to be unveiled next year.

Utterly damning news if true. It would explain the lack of spy pics of AMG CLK prototypes.

Is this late April Fool's Joke? This is sick, and not in a "really cool" kind of way. F__k the CLS63, build the god damn E-Coupe AMG instead. This is probably the dumbest F__king move I've seen MB made.

A real shame that there will be no AMG for this model. Why did we get a completely useless and pointless R63 AMG but no purposeful E-Class E63 AMG Coupe? :t-banghea

In my opinion there is no sales conflict between the E-Class Coupe and the CLS-Class. None whatsoever. Like I said before, some of these Mercedes people are really taking those internal car classifications way to seriously. The CLS is a sedan: period.

So which car will Mercedes now use to go against the M3 Coupe? Oh wait, the CLS63 AMG COUPE. Got it! :t-crazy2: :bonk:

Now that car is amazing! I can't understand why the E-class looks so half boxy and yet the E-class coupe looks like the best thing since bake bread.

Honestly what Mercedes-Benz should do is actually give the C-class an acutual coupe. Not that hatchback crap..but an actual coupe and make it an amg..based off the current C63AMG.

Im going to swedish Autoshow tomorrow. They say the new E-class Coupe going to there but I think they meant E-class Sedan. We'll see tomorrow. The new Z4 will be there for sure :usa7uh:

EDIT: E-class Coupe will be there...
