Wow, that is something! A big goof indeed. EXACT wheelbases across the 3 models says it all.

Fact is, the E-Coupe is a marketing and aesthetic gimmick over the C-Coupe, and that aesthetic is only subject to the outside. Sure, styling is subjective, but I don't think anyone is going to argue that the E-Coupe appears more premium or expensive outside, while the C looks more down to earth and "entry level" (at the same time, more harmonious and relaxed perhaps).

So is it worth it to pay "E" pricing for a C-Class with exterior sheet-metal that says "I'm more expensive than the C Coupe because I look like it"?

Not to me, at all. I don't get why M-B has both Coupes, at least make the E-Coupe a REAL E-Coupe. Make it as big as the Sedan, and as Luxurious as the Sedan. THAT would be a real E-Coupe I'd like to consider buying.

Currently the C250 CGI starts at $67k AUD, the E250 CGI starts at $95k AUD so I am guessing the C250 coupe will start somewhere around $80k AUD. Which means you can either pick up a brand new C250 or a slightly used E250. I just can't see the value in either of them.

I too will like them to do a real E coupe like they used to. BMW is doing it with the tripe pack of 5-series, 6 coupe, and the 6 GT, but then BMW doesn't have a direct competitor to the CL and SL.

go to mercedes-benz.de and then to the configurator for E coupe. The capacity of the engine is only mentioned on the last page of the configurator where you have summarized your choices.
I was personaly quite disappointed. They should make some 3,0 V6 and have it turboed. This new V6 may be good, but the problem is that the competitors are equipped with a turbo or a supercharger and are therefore more flexible.

4matic in the pipeline

The 2012 Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe 4matic has been built and is heading for American shores! The anticipated release date is currently mid to late April. The base price for the model will be $52,300 and equipment will be the same as the two wheel drive version.

The E350 Coupe was named a “Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the availability of 4MATIC – with all its safety and performance virtues – will only add to the appeal of this beautiful model.

Possible summer use includes rutted roads to the cabin/ranch in the mountains or washed out access road to the beach house?
