CLS (C257) [Official] Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class (C257)

The C257 Mercedes-Benz CLS is the third generation of the CLS range of four-door sedan, launched in 2018 as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz CLS (C218). Production: January 2018 – August 2023. Model years: 2019–2023.
I get he is very proud and passionate about his work but, this is getting a bit too much.

He is a designer and a marketer, much like Bangle. We cringe for sure, but It's part of the overall marketing stratgey and creating connection between the consumer and the brand that Britta Seeger mentioned at the launch. She even went on to mention Mercedes gets the most 'likes' of any manufacturer on Facebook.

Having Wagener produce these videos is just a part of the marketing machine. Mercedes has outmaneuvered both BMW and their creative marketing efforts and Audi in this respect.

Guyzz...is this normal ??
1 day ago i said its ugly, but the more im seeing all pictures, the more i love it!
Even the rear with those lights! Whats happening with me?
So yeah i like it. From minute to minute more. Dont ask me how this happend, but it did. Would like to have one. Yeah the W222 is still the BOSS, but also this W257 is crazy and so cool.

Well they always say that the best designs aren’t ones that you immediately like... it is growing on me but the rear I need to see IRL.

It's happening to me too! The more I see it, the more I love it! MB knows what they are doing!

It's interesting to see the absence of the stardust rearlamps.
Exactly, I assumed it will be the new design feature for the current generation of Mercedes, instead we only saw it in the E class sedan, coupe and only on the S class sedan, that is it.

Agreed, Wagner is now 60% designer and 40% showman.

I actually much prefer it when a car's design splits opinion than when it is either unanimously pretty or ugly. This car reminds me a bit of the E60...a little ugly in some ways but is very, very interesting to look at. Cars that are pretty from all angles, all the time are obviously triumphs in their own regard but I do like something more polarizing once in a while. ...

So the new CLS is the Kate Moss of cars then?

Wait till you see the rearlights irl; there's more to them than mere photos can show us...:)

Listening to music is an element that helps ensure the fluidity of the "creative flow". And I suspect that this is applied in the design studios of the various automobile manufacturers. Perhaps there are even "signature" soundtracks for given products.

Gordon Wagener and his team may have busted their best "Sprocket" moves to this catchy tune:

A piece of music with an impressively solid foundation...that kind of goes awry with Carlos' guitar solo. No bueno.

And Britta Seeger...don't say things like "...vee vill blow your mind." German automotive executives don't say stuff like that.

Good Heavens-WHAT'S NEXT ?!? Dr. Z appearing at the NAIAS with a lopsided basecap, gold tooth grill and a Flavor Flav-style neckchain with a large alarm clock attached ? " S'up, East Coast !"

Looks like no pano roof for third consecutive generation. Unfortunate.
Which I think is no problem at all. First of all the CLS is more a driver's car, seldom passengers in the backseat. Second, a panoramaroof weighs considerately more than a normal sunroof and the extra weight is in the wrong place (top of the car). If it were possible, I would have ordered my car with a normal sunroof, in stead of the obligatory panoramaroof.

LOL. They do now.

Relative to the BMW and Audi board and designers, Dr. Z and Wagener could almost qualify as celebrities.

In fact rumour has it one of them actually appears in this season of Keeping up with the Kardashians.

I believe its to do with the roof curvature, just as is the case with the lack of panoramic sunroof on the GLC coupe.

Well, they most certainly have a certain aura, which I would call very positive. Comparing Rupert Stadler to Dr. Zetsche, I for one know which of both I would invite to a party..

True. I can't imagine Dr. Stadler saying: "Gemma auf a Maß".

"Pulling out" and subtly blistering the wheel arches paired with a more flush fitament of the wheels could possibly work wonders for the C257s' appearance.

Summoning talented photoshoppers !
