The wide body and increased track width really transforms the visual character of the CLE. I love it. My sole criticism would be the front fender vents. They disturb the clean, organic character of the car's very shapely flank sculpturing. IMHO, the same would apply to the new AMG GT coupe. Oh yes...as for the interior, I could appreciate a good more "E" and a lot less "C".
 
I wonder if the 63 is going to be the P3 hybrid nonsense, a V8, or an even more juiced up Straight 6.
V8 would make it an instant hit, but I feel like AMG need a proper high-performance I6 feather in their cap of amazing engines. They have incredible I4s, V8s and V12s. Just missing that 6 cylinder. They've not had once since the C32 no? Would be a good opportunity.
 
I don't think it would be a I6 now. The E53 Sedan I6 setup would have been nice here, but now since they have this I6 version, I truly think the V8 is coming back.

They have to bring back the V8 to match this body. Mercedes can't be that dense not see this and hear the outrage over trying to kill off the V8.

It's amazing how those widened wheel arches transform the look of the CLE. It truly looks fantastic in AMG 53 form. The powertrain has a delicious sound and the performance looks pretty quick. Ok it's not 63 fast but still is quick. They have to bring out a V8 63 model it would be a beast.
 
It certainly looks fantastic in 53 trim, but the interior is a complete let down and not acceptable at this price point.
 
See, if Mercedes truly wanted a mix of E luxury and C dynamics, then the E interior should have been put into this car. It would have been for more worthy of the old CLK spot in the lineup.

Fully agree, there are certain things in this interior that I like, such as the vent design and center screen as well as the AMG wheel, but the hard pack plastic door bins, the center console even in AMG trim still with that ridiculous shiny black piano plastic and rear seat center piece with cup holder all in hard plastic is not acceptable for this kind of car. They could have put in a fixed armrest with built in cup holder like other Mercedes saloon models or put some piece of wood trim covering like the previous S-class Coupe

Been reading the CLE53 reviews and they seem to be mixed. Most video reviews have been extremely positive about the inline 6 with its character and nice sound. Weird that Autoexpress has said its let down by its engine.
