This seems to be the norm with the latest MBs. Even the W213 has been critisized for being far behind the G30 5er in terms of interior fit & finish.

Simply unacceptable.
Even before that with the F10 vs W212. Daimler definitely at the bottom when it comes to “perceived” interior build quality for the Germans.

63 estate

AMG designs are so lackluster and predictable.

The same bumper design on EVERY model.

With new M models and RS, your always left guessing until the last moment. Each model varies from each other. AMG is literally a copy and paste throughout the whole line up

But perhaps surprisingly to many, Germanys' respected inspection agency, TÜV, rates the C7 Audi A/S6 as the most durable, well-assembled and reliable automobile in its' segment. It is no coincidence that the C7, along with the current C8 Audi A/S6 was/is the fleet managers' darling.

@Jimmy, I wanted to ask you since you reside in Germany, if I'm not mistaken in Hamburg, have you already had the opportunity to see the new class c live, and if so, what impressions did you have?

I haven't had the opportunity to see the car "in the metal" yet, @Luca. It's been at local dealerships for just less than a week. I plan on running some errands this coming Saturday that may lead me to the M-B showroom where I can have a "look see". Foremostly, however, my wife and I want to take the opportunity to look at the new Q4 eTron at our local Audi dealership ;) .

Local press here is reviewing the W206 pretty poorly. It misses the interior quality you would expect from a car of its class, ride is not particularly comfy, car does not drive too well.

I can believe all the above, honestly.

So one bad review and the C is bad ..anyways i dont traut reviewers these days they more out to increase their own following or you tube numbers

POV drive video of the new C200 AMG. Despite the rain the car seems very quiet. The 1.5 engine can be heard but I think it makes a nice sporty sound.

At odds with the vast majority of others reviews that have stated the ride is excellent and it really is the 'mercedes' of its class one again. It has been widely reported that they finally have eschewed chasing BMW driving dynamics and focused on delivering proper ride comfort, despite dropping the airmatic suspension.

Another video review. It's impressively quiet inside and the interior looks great. He says their is a massive jump from the previous C-class and says its like a smaller E-class.

Imagine if the uplevel models had an I6 and the 63 was a 600hp I6 hybrid setup. Sigh...............

Call me crazy but I always found the C-Class to be soulless. Like yes it’s a really nice looking car, it has amazing tech etc. but it just lacks something and I can’t really point out what it is.
And as some of you also mentioned it as well, it just looks like an extensive facelift rather than a new generation, except the interior of course, that’s probably the best looking interior in it’s class.

The design has become so generic within the Mercedes lineup that literally every new Mercedes has the same face and the same rear end, just with little tweaks here and there.
They’re playing it a bit too safe and therefore people don’t really get excited about the new cars coming from them.(At least that’s the case for me)

I agree with these parts

So apparently we've all been lied to about the "cabin-forward" layout resulting in a larger passenger compartment ?

Just look at the interior dimensions of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe compared to the 2-door 2 Series Coupe to know the cabin forward doesn't always increase space and sometimes decreases it ahaha.

The new C-class has a longer bonnet and more cab backward design than the previous model for sure comparing their profiles. The distance between the front wheel arch and front door seems longer as well,

....and alas, as are most products coming from the design studios of German manufacturers.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule such as the iconic Porsche 911s' and perhaps arguably the Taycan lineup. And the upcoming new M-B SL looks to be very promising. But otherwise ?

I perceive the crux being anchored in afterthought gimmickry attempting to cloak either the ordinary, unsightly or both. And some of the more pedestrian German products are little more than appliances. Quite good and highly competent in their own right, but hardly soul-stirring.

And, resultingly, it's bloody gorgeous. I can't wait to get inside one and see for myself. High hopes, fingers crossed. I just hope that being hybridised across the range doesn't result in much higher, uncompetitive pricing down here in SA.
